I've horrible cold and have had earache and sinusitis and have been taking ibuprofen, albeit infrequently. Now I'm panicking as I've read you shouldn't take it before 14 weeks. Sorry for trivial question...

Just switch to paracetamol, which is safe to take throughout pregnancy.

I made that mistake - took ibuprofen when I was about 10 weeks. When I googled it I htink there was danger of miscarriage (which didn't happen), then later on there was danger to babys heart but that occurs much later on so decided not to worry.
