Placenta Previa at risk for accreta anyone???

Have one child, he's 7. Had him by emergency c/s and also got a real bad infection afterwards and had to have a blood transfusion.

Now eight years later pregnant with my second child and found out at 15 weeks that I had total placenta previa. I switched to a high risk ob for that and just when I thought I could handle the pp, the specialist tells me that I am at high risk for accreta?? I have to wait a few weeks to find out. Now theres a scary thought!
Ladies help!
I know I am at risk but what are the odds like? any simmilar stories??

Hi there, I had total pp and acreta too. The risks are about 1/3500 of having both. Have they told you why they think you are at risk of accreta? I think at my hospital they scan everyone with pp who has had a section to check for signs of accreta. As it happens mine didn't show up on the scan because the placenta was stuck to the back wall of the womb not in the area of the scar which is where they were looking for it. They didn't discover it was stuck until they were delivering dd2.

Anyhow, although dd2 and I did have a very rough time we are bothfine now. I assume they will have explained the risks of bleeding to you & also that you may have to stay in hospital for safety's sake? If they diagnose accreta you will probably have to have a section under general & I'm afraid the risk of hysterectomy is high, although I didn't have to have one so it's not inevitable.

I won't post too much about my experience unless you want me to because it is a bit of a horror story & the chances are that you will be fine. Good luck and I hope you get the all clear in a couple of weeks!
