Hi, I'm 24wk pg, expecting No.3 in July. The last a couple of months, I feel pain under my left brest. It's like someone is poking with a stick... It's very uncomfortable. I think that this is caused by my baby's position and I had these pains when I was pg with my 1st and 2nd. But this time aound it is so painful, I don't know what to do. Mabye baby is pusing upwards so hard for some reason?? Does anyone have these symptons? Anything I can relief this pain? I prefer not to take any painkellers. I was hoping it would pass after a while but the pain is still there. Will this pain ever go away? Please help!

Could it be trapped wind? I get a pain there when I get this? If the baby is pushing up on an area bloated wwith gas it could be painful. Isn't pregnancy lovely...?

I had something like this - it felt like a stitch. Doc said it was a trapped nerve or something. It got worse if I ate a bit meal or sat upright for too long (work was fun)

What kind of bra do you wear (if you don't mind me asking) - might be worth seeing if you need a different size/more comfortable one as this should ease it a bit.

Yes, I had them, but slightly earlier felt like I was being stabbed under my right breast. I'm pretty sure (and my DH is a professional anatomist) it was my ribs expanding to fit the baby I don't have much room between ribs and pelvis as I'm short waisted. It was agonising while it lasted; I would be writhing in pain on the commute home from work, and could only get relief lying flat on my back.

IMoveTheStars · 23/03/2010 23:33

Oh, that makes sense - the intercostal muscles stretching in the ribs. Feels almost like a sprain/twist?

beanlet · 23/03/2010 23:44

Yes, like a nasty bruise, but sharper.

like you've been jabbed in the boob by a toddler wielding a plastic dinosaur? (oh no, too scary!!!)
(sorry, too much Peppa Pig in this house)

OP - sorry to say, it didn't go away...

You'd be surprised where a baby can get too. I had the same thing and when I got scanned it was actually the baby. I had it bad as I had twins so their arms and legs were causing all kinds of pains. I didn't think they could get that high but they can push your internal organs around and cause all sorts of pressure in weird places.

Experiment with lying down. There will probably be a position that will relieve the pain a little.

Thanks everyone, I'm relieved to know I'm not the only one! I might need to change my bra (JareththeGoblinkking) as I'm still wearig the same bra before PG. I have very flat chest(cup AA) and they are slightly bigger now but not much.

I tried different positions to relieve the pain, lying flat on my back helps but when I'm at work sitting in the office/driving to work long distance, it's a torture....

Hope it doesn't last too long, oh joys of being PG!!
