Am I being too sensitive?

I'm due my first next week, very excited, can think of nothing else etc.
The amount of people that have said to me in the past few days 'Oh, hope you dont have her on April Fools Day, that would be awful'
Its really getting on my nerves, I'm just grateful to be expecting a baby or do you think being born on April 1st is very unfortunate, honestly?

I'd sooner have a baby on April Fools Day than Christmas Day.

Honestly, people just feel they have to say something, its all just hot air coming out of their mouths. Don't worry about it at all. If your baby is born on 1 April, he/she will be as happy and healthy in life as any other child. Good luck!

i'm 22wks thurs with my 3 DC and No i dont think that anyone should be saying that to you at all and if i was in ur position id say 'shut up or i'll shut you up'... I'm not violent at all but how can any day be awful bringing your 1st in2 the world.. ignore em chick..

My DP has a son from a previous relationship and his bday is the 1st April... I just want to wish you well and Good luck on the big day XXX Hope all goes gr8 sweetie, and its not tooo painfull for ya and that baby will arrive safe. No matter what day of babys arrival will be the most memorable in your life

There are many women who dont make it full term and are beside themselves with grief so i'm glad ur happy no matter what the day

Agree with previous - people just feel the need to say something!

1st of April could be special birthday - easy to remember and I think you could build fun family traditions round it.

Ooh! That reminds me! My Auntie's birthday is April 1st - I'd better go and get a card. and my Auntie? She's utterly fantastic and doesn't seem to have been affected by her birth date

That's my birthday! Hence the username. I hated it when I was little and I now think it's kind of fun. Apparently in labour my mum was crossing her legs shrieking "I'm not having a baby on April Fools Day".

My DP was born on the 1st April, and his mum always tells the story of how she told his dad she was in labour and he would'nt believe her as it was Aprils Fools day!

It's just one of 365 days but like Passion says makes it that much more interesting!

I also have a niece born on Christmas Day, now there's a day I would want to avoid!

My nephew was born on February the 29th. Now you can imagine what my SIL and him have had to put up with.

I would ignore everyone. I went into labour on my birthday, after months of people sying 'ooh, wouldn't it be awful if she was born on your birthday!' She managed to hang on for another 40 hrs, though, so we have our birthdays next door to each other. Now, what I get is, 'Ah well, I'm sure she'll catch up eventually,' as her birthday is in August. You just can't win with some people, so ignore them instead.

Oh good grief, if people have to speak why can't they say something nice?! My dd was due 29 Mar and I had all those stupid comments too, as it was she turned up on 2 April but it wouldn't have bothered me one bit not going that extra day overdue

Other people are probably just trying to think of things to say and not realizing you are feeling sensitive.

I think of April the 1st as a jolly day where everyone is in a good mood - so not a bad day at all to be born!

FamilyBloke was born then and found all the April Fool jokes of the "You haven't got any presents" type from siblings and schoolmates incredibly annoying.

But people seem to have this need to say some comment about something so if it wasn't that it would be something equally stupid.

I really wouldn't worry about it, some people just think they have to say something, anything, however much rubbish actually comes out of their mouths.

I met someone for the first time today and I asked how old her baby was...she said she would be a year old on April 1st. Until the mother said about it being April Fools' Day, it didn't even occur to me and I made some silly comment to the baby about her being nobody's fool (she was very cute).

Good luck! My 2nd is due next week (am thinking she's going to make an arrival sooner than that though!)
