when I was pregnant I was told it is fine so long as there is no history of nut allergy within the near family. Advice changes so often though it's hardto keep up.

I'm fairly sure I ate nuts during pregnancy. I can't remember actively not eating them. Dd1 is fine. Dd2 has suspected asthma but that is something that runs in my family anyway, so I doubt cutting out nuts would have avoided that.

I got this off the Food Standards Agency website:
You may have heard that some women have chosen not to eat peanuts when they are pregnant or breastfeeding. This is because the Government used to advise women that they may wish to avoid eating peanuts at these times if there is a history of allergy in their child?s immediate family, such as asthma, eczema, hayfever, food allergy or other types of allergy. This was in case a woman eating peanuts when pregnant or breastfeeding increased the chance of her baby developing a peanut allergy. But this advice was changed in August 2009 because it isn?t clear from the latest research if eating peanuts at these times affects the chances of your baby developing a peanut allergy

I have eaten peanut butter all the way through!

Last time I was preganant, advice was to avoid. This time advice has changed and you are only encouraged to avoid if there is a family history of allergy to peanuts.

So, I've been eating them this pregnancy.

My Midwife told me that if I've always eaten peanuts then fine, carry on. But if not aviod them to be on the safe side, and also aviod them if there is a history of nut allergies on either side. I'm eating nuts and peanut butter. xx
