I don't think this can be the right procedure can it?

I went to the doctor to confirm my pregnancy and get us in the system, she didn't try and work out my due date like the doctor I had for my first, and she told me i'd be called infor my first scan in 2 weeks??? I am only 4 weeks which I made very clear and she said yes they can see from around 6 weeks but with my last the dating scan was 11 weeks. She said i'd see the midwife after that and i'd have to call and book when i'd had the scan? I am at a different doctors in a different town but surely you don't have the scan so early? I'm a bit confused. Anyone else had a really early scan, is this just some areas procedure or is this doctor confused?

this does sound strange. i think as long as she's defo booked you in to a hospital you can liase with them and keep your gp contact minimal. have you received the confirmation stuff yet from the hospital? maybe just call them and confirm when the first scan is etc. i think she didn't really know what she was doing to be honest - not working out your due date is very strange!

Def agree with alanna, thats always the first thing they do, work your due date out?!? Its the starting point for your care plan?

Can you call your midwives or maybe speak with the receptionist at your GP's and just explain your a bit confused!

Early scans, I thought were for high risk pregnancies as not much can be seen, and you will need another two at 12 and 20 weeks?

Most of all, I think it would be good to make sure you are definately 'in the system', as she may have not even referred you properly given her lack of knowledge!

You might end up with an appointment for the eye clinic!
