Has my GP forgotten about me?!

I'm concerned that I'm slipping through the net as far as early pg care is concerned. I just got a letter for booking in with the midwife for April 23rd - when I will be 12+6 - surely that's far too late? Aren't I supposed to be having a scan then?!

I'm a bit concerned because my GP forgot to fill in the paperwork for the maternity exemption form when I saw him - don't know what else he might have missed. Was a bit when the first letter I got was for the combined test date...maybe the hospital is just a bit disorganised.

All very confusing for a first timer!

My hospital do booking in and scan at the same appointment at around 12 weeks. I was surprised that it took so long to have any contact with a midwife. Maybe give your surgery a call to check though.

I would call and check - for my first, they did forget me, and I only got my scan because I rang up the hospital and asked what was going on

they have since got more organised, but it definitely does happen

They might just be behind at the hospital. I rang at 11 weeks when I hadn't heard anything two weeks after seeing the GP and my referral was still in the 'to be processed' pile. Here you also get a scan at the booking appointment which all done at the hospital.

There was a mix up at the hospital with me, and I got a booking appointment late (for that hospital) at 11 weeks. They booked the scan really quickly though and everything got back on track.

Booking in is fine at 12+6 - but you do want scan then too - call the hospital to chase for scan in meantime.

re: maternity exemption no rush just ask midwife at booking in appointment. the health in pregnancy grant and matb1 generally aren't done until later anyway.

They don't really do / check much now in early pregnancy, so don't worry about it now - at your booking in they'll tell you when the rest of your appointments should be.
