Hi

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow, booked for ELCS on 23rd but getting increasing BH and pressure 'down below'.

Had an EMCS with DD1 and chose ELCS as didn't want a repeat of that experience. Trouble is, the date I'm booked for is so close to due date (39+3) that I'm convinced that I'll go into labour before then and not get the birth that I want. Have been told that if labour does start, to ring labour ward and they'll fit me in for a cs, so long as I'm not too progressed.

My first labour didn't progress at all, but this pg has been quite different to the first and I have a feeling the birth will be too!

This is just a moan really, I'm at that stage now where I want it over with, but also want it my own way too!!

Fingers crossed for you. You know they're "just" BHs but you can't help the little niggly voice going "yes, but what if they're just the warm up act and you'll be off for real in a few hours"?

I've got the same worry, my elcs is booked for 39+1 and although I've got it in writing that they'll do the section if I go into labour before then, it'll be upsetting and not beyond the realms of possibility either. wibble !

Glad it's not just me fretting!

My BH seem to get much worse at night and I have this vision of waking up t 2am and having to swiftly arrange childcare and get to hospital so that they have time to do the cs. I'm sure that in reality, there'll be time enough to organise things, but I'm such a control freak and having had a bad labour experience before, I've no wish to go too far down that road again.

Anyway, good luck and I suppose what will be will be!

I'm with you on the control freak thing. I was supposed to be having an elective csection but now it looks like a natural labour. I am partly freaked out because I have no control whatsoever over when I will go into labour, what will happen, what will I do about childcare, what if it happens when dh is at work (he is a 2 hour journey away). I have a fear of the unknown, I like to plan everything!

Funny thing is that I thought having a cs planned would make these last few weeks much less stressful, but I feel that because mine's booked so late and I've been having loads of BH, I just feel sure that I won't get to that point.

I just keep tellig myself that at least I know that by 23rd March, I'll have my baby and most people don't have that luxury. God knows what I'd be like at the thought of going beyond my due date!
