Leg cramp pain still after 2.5 days.

Could it still be bruised from cramp or is it worth going drs? Thinking about dvt. Hurts when I walk or flex foot up, no swelling or heat or redness, but deep muscle pain.

you should get it checked out

CAn you stand on your tip toes without pain?

I have had DVT and they have never been accompanied by swelling/redness etc

thumbwitch · 11/03/2010 13:37

go to A&E and get it checked, just in case. Whether or not it is a DVT, it's much better safe than sorry. And don't massage it, in case it is one!

Divster · 11/03/2010 13:43

tip toes hurts, but then it would if it was muscle wouldnt it? If I rub it it hurts.

bet I am just worrying over nothing, and am turning into a hypercondriac!

Going to ring dr get app for this afternoon

I have had loads of dvt's during pregnancy( they now know why) and I have never had swelling or redness in my legs

get it checked out they will definitley send you to the hospital and probably give you a scan of your leg - go tomorrow as the weekend you'll wait ages if they decide to scan you.

and if it isn't then your mind will be put at rest

Divster · 11/03/2010 22:49

Went docs at 5pm, and she sent me a&e, as the department that deals with dvt wont see pregnant women over 20 weeks.

Just got home now, and am being treated as if its a dvt as doc is 99% sure it is. After I left docs up to now my calf has gone huge and even more painful!

Had blood test, but got to wait for a scan maybe tomorrow, but if no scan tomorrow I have to go back to a&e to have another warfarin injection tomorrow night.

Thanks everyone

Great stuff - although are you sure they gave you a warfarin injection? Much more likely to have been a heparin injection, warfarin is usually an oral medication and is generally contraindicated in pg. I had to have heparin (as Clexane) injections daily from 16w pg onwards as I have Factor V Leiden which hugely increases the risk of DVT in pg.

I can't believe that they couldn't do an emergency scan on you, some hospitals do make me cross - I used to work in the haematology lab in a hospital and I also know that there is a pretty quick and simple blood test that gives a pretty accurate answer as to whether or not someone has a DVT - I hope they did that test on you! (it's called a D-dimer test)

thumbwitch · 11/03/2010 23:55

sorry, am an idiot - I wasn't meaning to give you more cause for concern - if they did give you a warfarin injection then of course they know what they are doing and it will be perfectly fine.

Divster · 12/03/2010 07:58

I put warfarin, as that is what I know as a blood thinner, so dont know if it was iyswim, they called it blood thinner. It was an injection in my belly.

Idealy they said it was better if I stayed in, but there were no beds. I dont know the result of the blood test (it was d-dminer) either as came out before it was ready. Blood was also tested for inflamation, as could be cellulitis, but doc didnt think it was.

Hope I do get called for scan today, as dont fancy a&e tonight at 9.30pm being a Friday night!

Reading what I have put, it seems quite hit and miss, but at least I have had the medicine. At one point the doc said I should just go home, and come back for scan and take it from there, but there was no way I was walking out of there with that in my leg untreated! He went away and took advice.

Its quite mad that the department that does these scans doesnt open like like xray does.

Thankies

Also I am wondering, if I am left for this long after the heparin, wont it have broken the blood clot down and moved along. So when I am scaned, its not going to be there?

OP posts:
rubyslippers · 12/03/2010 10:53

i don't think the clot will have fully dispersed in 24 hours with one heparin dose

they don't always do a d-dimers blood test in PG as the results are often skewed

elevate your leg as much as you can - poor you but very pleased you got it checked out

susiey · 12/03/2010 11:01

I was told not to elevate my lags when I had dvt's

the clot will not have broken down in 24 hours
they really should give a you a scan today because if you have a clot they will need to put you on a traetment dose of the fragmin.\i hope they do see you

Divster · 12/03/2010 14:15

Had scan this morning, and no dvt!

Got sent around to A&E again, and was told its pregnancy related and my blood pressure was very high last night, so have to go my gp this afternoon to have urine and bp checked!

This is all on top of being on labour ward earlier this week with contractions that turned out to be a uti.....I am not having a good week!

OP posts:
Divster · 12/03/2010 16:23

bp all fine
