How to help a baby move?

I am 19 wks pregnant and felt the baby move two wks ago,since then I hardly feel anything if I do...I know its my second child But I dont know whether to worry or not....
Also every day I feel really dizzy,am sure its not my blood pressure could it be my sugar level?

my baby used to move when I lay still ie. went to bed, heard great music with a bit of bass.
Do you have a 20wk scan coming up, maybe you could go in a little early to stop any further worry.

An ice cold drink has been known to perk babies up a bit.

I used to get dizzy a lot due to low BP.

If you are really concerned then pop in and see your midwife, he/she should be more than happy to have a listen in and a fell around to make sure bump is happy enough.

Thanks for the advice,im due to go wk weds for scan...I have tried having a sugary drink and then lieing still but still dont feel anything...How long should i wait?

I think i am just worrying or i hope i am?How else can i get a baby to move?my midwife never seems very interested,and my dh just thinks it will be ok...

i always noticed movements after a big sugar boost - chocolate!!!!!!!!!!!!

try going on all fours for 10-15 mins, whilst watching tv to make it less boring, then lie down for a bit, should give bubba time to jiggle around then find a new position! don't 4get there's lots of room for them at this stage.

lol,I used that excuse this morn too...Have got an appointment at docs at 5pm so fingers crossed..

I didn't notice either of mine move unitl the day before the 20 week scan!

I've heard a big glass of cold water does the trick or a glass of Coke.

i am 18'+4 and havent felt baby move all week but was feeling it regularly before that. However i have adoppler so i know the baby is still there iykwim. Just ot reassure that maybe if baby is by ur belly button [mine is] then it could just be extra padding cushioning the blows

Hi ebbie22, I'm now 25wks with 2nd pg and started feeling baby move at almost 17wks... but then it all disappeared... I would feel baby maybe three times a day if I were lucky. I too was a bit worried like you. However, after I turned 21/22wks all of a sudden baby became really active and I can feel it almost all day now at 25wks. I think we think we should be able to feel baby more 2nd time round, but with a busy toddler to mind and forgetting that the baby is still really small (under 1lb at this stage) we shouldn't be expecting as much as we do.

I'm sure everything will be fine at the docs. They may even find it difficult to find the hearbeat (my midwife did at 18wks) as the baby is still very low in the pelvis. They will find it eventually and I'm sure it will be fine. Let us know how you get on. Believe me in a few weeks time you'll be wanting a rest from the somersaults!

i think it all depends on where the baby is..i felt first movements around 18 weeks, and then they were intermittent for a while. i wouldn't feel anything for four or five days. if the baby is kicking towrads your back i think your nerves don't register it.
some advice i got before my scan last week was to drink a big icy coke, which apparantly gets the baby moving (and in my case he moved too much and caused the sonographer trouble)..he he..but i couldn't believe i couldnt feel the jerks and kicks i was seeing on screen.
if you se your midwife she will listen with a doppler which will provide reassurance...
and i must agree with wanting a rest...at the moment i keep willing the baby to stay stil! he h..it has even made me throw up this last week.

Still no reason for the dizzy spells just need to rest more......

No but i eat to make it go away...lol,but it doesnt then i just feel really faint....oh what to do..Cant even stay on computer for very long as thats how dizzy i get...

did you mention this to mw? did she check your iron levels? I know sometimes you can feel dizzy in pregnancy but best to check it out.

ebbie did they check ur blood pressure as if its low then u it will cause u to feel faint and dizzy.

I always have low blood pressure and they didnt seem worried 2 wks or so ago when i last went,I cant complain really as its a gd pregnancy compared to others....

an idea not yet mentioned: tai chi. Great for you - relaxing, stretching, etc. but also there is a series of exercises in basic tai chi that concentrates on sending blood to the deep muscles in the abdomen. during that phase, baby get v. active. It is a good time to start a class.
