20 week scan ~ Worried about Low Liquor Volume.

I just had my 20 week anomaly scan and, at the time, the sonographer said everything was fine, so we floated out on clouds of relief and happiness. But I've just been looking at the scan report and it has "Liquor Volume: Low". After mad googling, it seems like low amniotic fluid can be a real problem that needs checking on, but I can't really find out much about it.

Should I be worried about this result and ask for a repeat scan to check on it. Or, am I panicking completely unnecessarily? Any advice very gratefully received.

As long as the volume is within the normal range there is nothing to worry about - what you want to be aware of is if you're leaking (i.e your uterus is slightly open potentially causing infection risks to the baby, which youcan easily assess by how wet your nickers feel or if you use pads. Amniotic fluid is clear and hs no smell to it). It is important to emphaasize that we all are different levels of amniotic fluid - mine was just below the 50th centile at my 20 week scan with number 2, which is totally fine. I was below the 5th centile at 30 weeks with my first (and leaking) so she came early with ECSC as it had not been picked up and she had caught an infection (thus not a happy little bunny). All good in the end If yo're worried or unsure how to interpret the scan correctly call your midwife and arrange to come in for a chat. No need to go around being unnecessarily worried - and if the radiographer said everything was fine - it probably is! All the best

In the end, I rang the maternity unit and talked to the sonographer. Basically, they had made a mistake and had printed out "low" instead of "normal" ~ she had clicked the wrong button on the screen. Pretty worrying that that would have been there in my records if I hadn't flagged it up. Just shows you should always question things if you're worried.
