Just keep in mind that the wait is nearly over and you'll soon have your little baby in your arms. I was induced with DS and I knw how long those last few hours can feel.
Best wishes

Sounds familiar - I had to go in at 2pm to be induced with DD3. She was born at 03:36 the next morning after the most fantastic birth ever in the history of the world Hope your goes as well as mine did.

IZDI · 03/03/2010 14:56

thanks guys, tell me, what was breast feeding like after (if you did) did it take long for the milk to kick in?

Bfeeding after induction, you mean? DD3 bfed almost immediately after birth (with a short pause to widdle all over me - fortunately we were both still naked so a little easier to clean up) but was later admitted to SCBU and had a naso-gastric tube inserted, so I'm not a good person to ask about it. I expressed for her, and my milk came in fairly quickly.

The admission to SCBU was for a medical condition which we knew before birth might be a problem and was the reason for the induction, BTW, not a result of it, IYSWIM.

induction was quick.
bf fine, milk came on day 4 which was later than normal. just let baby suckle often and all will be fine.

good luck

I was induced with my first, contractions started almost immediately. Had a long labour (partially due to being told to push for 2 1/2 when I was actually only 5cms dilated but whole other story!)but good outcome, delivered without forceps.

DS fed almost straight away and was contented until milk came in which was on Tuesday and he was born Friday.

themacsmum · 03/03/2010 17:47

Hope is progressing well and you're not online anymore IDZI but just wanted to reply to your query about BF after induction. DS fed straight away after and although I can't recall a specific point when my milk came in he carried on being BF until 5 months. No reason to think induction will cause any difficulty with feeding.

devilsadvocaat · 03/03/2010 19:41

oh yes, i fed til 8 months after too

IZDI · 06/03/2010 14:07

well ladies it was definitely something to tell the grand kids.

went in at 4pm (they were running late) didn't start induction until 7pm ok. had a sweep at 2.20am then the contractions really started...

... after 5 hours i had another sweep and had my waters broken...
hough
...i didn't use any pain relief until 1pmish even though they upped the dose to increase the the contraction...

...at 1.40 something i was rushed to have an emergency c-section because the cord was coming out first it felt like a scene from ER. very dramatic very quick.

at 2.11pm my little man was delivered.

still in hospital waiting for the all clear. thank God i'm healing very quickly.

the end ;o)
