Any reason I can't wait until after the baby is born to buy (or send DH to buy!) the pram

Not due until the summer but already being asked if we've decided which pram we're going to get!

Had planned to pick out the best option(s) and then wait until after baba was born to actually buy. Depending on my back/recovery from birth/size of baba etc. I might actually go with a sling and we mainly use the car so amount/type of walking I do will depend on the summer weather.

I realise that there can be a delivery lag with some prams so will research that when picking out our preference.

Mentioned this plan to family member (who asked the question) this evening who basically sucked their teeth and started muttering in a very disapproving manner. Is there any real reason that we should buy before the birth??

I realise that hospital won't let us out without a car seat but surely a pram can wait??

TIA

Oh no! I have caved in to pressure and ordered mine (am 34 weeks) - I knew I could have got away with waiting longer! It's not like the shops run out of baby equipment!!

I have decided to hold off buying the cot - we have a moses basket to start with and the longer we can hold off filling up our VERY small bedroom the better. I have already had some faces about this too.

We did the same as you passionberry - bought pram but not cot. To be honest you will find that it doesn't matter that much which way you do things - you find a way to work with what you've got. Or your DH will purchase something in desperation, which hopefully he will see the funny side of sooner rather than later.

No rush, lots of online places will delivery very quickly. Shops often take longer but if you are less fussy about what fabric might not be a problem. Kiddicare is fab.

Might be an idea to borrow newborn car seat from a friend for the first couple of week incase you choose pram with a matching car seat.

Incidentally cot can wait too.....
