That sounds very lovely. Your DD will need someone to stand up for her, keep her company if labour takes ages, and all the rest of the support one needs in labour! If she is looking at starting life as a single parent, it is also probably quite important for you to bond, so that you get through the difficult times together, without resentment driving you apart!

I hope it goes well. When's the baby due?

So there's time to prepare. Are you going to go to antenatal classes together? My husband came with me, and it really helped that he knew the same things I had been told, about pain relief, stitching, hormones (such as oxytocin/syntocin, to speed up contractions), and so on. I think the NHS do free ones (the midwives can tell your DD), and the NCT also do courses.

Antenatal groups are also a very good way to meet people who will be having babies at the same time, so can lean on one another, confess failures to one another, swap information about local activities, and just have someone to spend time with during maternity leave! I'm sure your whole family would benefit from the extra support, probably your 3-year-old in particular, who may have a hard time with the new baby.

Hope this helps?

I see from your profile that you go to lots of playgroups already, so you have a really good start on all the local research!
