I was just wondering when you changed your belly button bar/ ring for a pregnancy one? I'm 14 weeks now and my mw said at my appointment this week that I would have to change it "soon" but I forgot to ask when, is it just when your bump starts to show?

I changed mine only when the metal one got uncomfortable, to be fair I doubt there is a hard and fast rule but as your bump grows the shape of your belly button changes and a curved metal bar can start to stick out. obviously then you risk it catching on stuff. change it when you feel really is what I'm saying. Just find a good plastic one with a screw thread or the damn things keep popping off when you bend towards the end lol

I have now taken mine out as it was catching at things. But I was made to remove it at scans incase it scratched the scanner head.

i didnt change mine at all during either pregnancy. i was never advised to and it was never uncomfortable.

I ended up taking mine out as, with a tight twin bump, and a very very sticky out tummy button I would have looked ridiculous with a bar as well!

BooyhooNOTboohoooORbooyou · 28/02/2010 22:40

dairymoo, did it close up when you took it out?

ShowOfHands · 28/02/2010 22:44

I only had mine taken out as they wheeled me into theatre for an em cs.

KentuckyFriedPenguin · 28/02/2010 22:48

I took mine out with DS1, used a pregancy one when it got tight with DS2 and didn't take it out at all with DS3 despite him being an ENORMOUS bump!

I took mine out at 8 weeks just in case, and over 7 months later it is still open but the area seems to be red from being stretched so don't want to put it back in.
