Spotting caused by small bleed in womb

I have just got back from the EPU as I have been spotting on and off from 7 weeks pregnant (I am now 11+2)

The sonographer said she could see a small area of bleeding at the top of my cervix in the womb. The baby was fine and she said there was nothing they could do about the bleed and I would need to just wait and see what happens. I have to go back next week for another scan.

Has anyone had any experience of this?

I have bled in all my pregnancies. With my DD I bled at 14 weeks and went along for a scan. They could see where the blood was coming from and sent me home to wait. I was scanned a week later and she was fine.

With my current pregnancy I bled so badly that I had to go to A&E.

The doctor told me that if they can see where the blood is coming from, it is less worrying for them and they just monitor. It is an awful time but it can be good news.

Good luck. Thinking of you. XX

tiggergirl, I am so sorry to hear about your experience.

allstarprincess, thanks for your comments. I guess I will just sit it out and wait. It is a horrible time though and I am not letting myself get excited about this pregnancy.

I had this!
At about 9 weeks and bled.
Sonographer said she could see area of heamerraging in womb that caused bleeding, was too small to be a concern, even though the area could still be seen on scan as a kind of hole at 20 week scan it wasn't a problem.
I'm 34 weeks now and my baby is fine

yes, had spotting around 6 or 7 weeks, lasted for a few weeks getting progressively worse, developed into proper bleed and so finally phoned mw and had scan next day (around 10 weeks) - said same thing - small bleed and just to wait and see. The spotting stopped about a week afterwards. Had a worried few weeks until scan at around 14 weeks showed everything to be fine.

Had spotting around the same time with another pregnancy - although not as bad - and he was born fit and healthy too.

Good luck

Thanks mummyof2byapril and bloodyright - your stories have made me feel a lot better.

Did the sonographers tell you what had caused the bleed?
