Slow heartbeat at internal scan (6 weeks+ 1 day)

The sonographer said at this stage all you could really say is that the heart is beating or not...

However, I noticed that the heartbeat was very slow (last tine at almost the same gestation I'm sure the heart was beating really fast). Has anyone had this before and it been ok?

Sorry for 'making up' a worry... I need to relax more

My understanding is that a heartbeat at that stage can be pretty erratic, so hopefully nothing to worry about . Not that I am any authority on this at all.

Good luck. The worry is a killer insn't it.

I've just had a scan (external) at approx 6 weeks and 3 days and the heartbeat was definitely there, but not as fast as I was expecting. Apparently everything was fine so I guess maybe it can just be slow at first.
This is my first pg though, so I've no previous to compare it with.
Hope everything is fine.

Hello,

This happened to me. Scan at 6+3 was 'a little on the slow side', so they asked me to return the following week and it was perfect. I remember doing some mad googling after the first scan, and finding out that the heartbeat only just starts to beat around 6 weeks, and then speeds up everyday until it gets to normal fast foetus beat. That reassured me a bit.

I'm sure it's fine - if you had a heartbeat there, that's a great sign. What your sonographer said makes sense, they would have let you know if there was something to worry about.

Try not to worry (I know it's easier said than done!!).
