Small for dates, should I be worried?

I had my 28 week appointment with the midwife today and she said to me that I was measuring very small (fundal height 21cm). I am tall (5'8") and long in the body, and I haven't put that much weight on throughout the pregnancy (about 5kg so far). What is very confusing is that I seem to be getting conflicting information depending on who I see. When I saw my GP at 24 weeks, the fundal height was measured as 25cm. I really don't think I have got any smaller since then!! I also had a scan last week and asked about the baby's weight and was told it was about 1lb 14oz which was apparently normal, but looking on the internet (fatal I know) this looks really low. I've had one growth scan a few weeks back which showed that the baby was a bit small and am booked for another one at 30 weeks, but I am starting to get worried that there might be a problem & that I should be pushing for an earlier scan (the midwife didn't suggest doing anything else today; just asked if there were plenty of movements, which there are)
Has anyone else had experience of this sort of thing? It's my first pregnancy & am starting to get a bit worried. Thanks

Hello,
I under measured with both my pregnancies, and had to go for a scan to check baby, and was told that the baby was fine, and would be 6lb 8oz approx at birth.

one was 7lb 8oz the other 7lb 13oz

So you see the measurements cant really say how big your baby will be.

I am 5ft 9", but all leg and little body!!!!!!

I had a growth scan at 28 weeks, where the baby was undersize, and one at 30 weeks where the baby was a good size, so a couple of weeks can make a differance.

Please dont worry

Hi. I am also 5'8" and had the same shrinking fundal height with my first pregnancy. I think if you are fairly long bodied you just use your space differently. Also bare in mind that there will be some degree of inaccuracy when your fundal height is measured, especially when done by different people. Mine was measured by someone different every time and my chart was very up and down! I had growth scans which showed the baby to be absolutely fine and she was born a healthy 6lb 8oz. Not everyone has big babies but if you are still worried speak to your midwife about having a sooner scan although think they usually repeat them 2 weeks apart at this stage. Try not to worry.x

I'm the same height and was told i was small for dates with my first, he was over 10lb at birth so it's isn't always something to worry about.

I'm 5'8" and have a very long body, and never put on a lot of weight in pregnancy.

I measured small and needed a growth scan with both my pregnancies, but ds was 9lb 7oz and dd 8lb 1oz. I don't think the measurements are always very accurate!
