chances of pre term labour second time around

Hi, I am 28 w + 1 day and went for a scan yesterday, dr said she weighs 1.2kg? With my first little girl she was born at 37 weeks and weighed 2.51kg. But I did go into pre term labour at 33 weeks (she was then 1.8kg) and had to be given cortisone injections for her lungs and dr managed to stop the labour. At this stage she is lying head down already an I am terrified of going into pre term labour again. Any body gone through the same thing?

Hi, I gave birth to my first son at 34 weeks and when I fell pregnant again I had the same worries. I gave bith to my second son at 39 weeks and my daugther also at 39 weeks so try not to worry. It most likely won't happen again xx

I had twins at 29 weeks. The next baby was on time. The next 10 days late. The next 14 days late, then 10 days late and induced, then 3 days late.

Dc#5 and 6 tried to come at 32 weeks but were stopped and then both late!. Tbh i think i was just over doing it with them.

Don't worry. I am sure it will all be fine.

Do they know why you went into pre-term labour?
My waters went at 34 weeks (they didn't try and stop labour tho.) last time. For this pregnancy have been under consultant care with more regular checks on infections etc. My hospital also gives steroid shots as a matter of course at 32 weeks for those that have had a previous pre-term labour.
If they know why it happened perhaps they can avoid it. If it was just one of those things then the likelihood is you will carry to term.

Ricci like you I went in pre-term labour at 32 weeks with DD (which was stopped and then DD was late). Was really worried throughout my pregnancy with DS but he came at 37/38 weeks. When I was pregant with DS, I was told that you are only at a higher risk of another preterm labout if you actually gave birth when you went in pre-term labour and even so, it doesn't mean it will happen again.

Reason causing pre-term labour for me was stress (a lot of it). Good luck and try to relax, this is probably the best you can do for BB2

i also had ist baby early at 33 weeks and was on tenterhooks from that stage 2nd time round. 2nd was a bit early at 38 weeks but not as early. am now 23 weeks and will pack bag early just in case but then try not to worry!

My sister went into labour at 28 weeks doctors held it off until Dn was born at 31 weeks.

Her dds were both at least 5 days overdue.
