When did you/ will you start decorating the nursery?

As the title says, just seeing when everyone plans on doing it?

We're moving house tomorrow (will be 27+4weeks). But I'm a little bit worried about putting the cot together and sorting out the nursery until maybe 33ish weeks.

Currently 26+1

Started wallpaper stripping around Christmas. Then stopped (am terrible for starting things and then not finishing, or starting something else halfway through). Taking next week off work so intend to finish wallpaper stripping and have the room decorated by the end of it.

Cot will arrive over easter weekend thanks to kind donation from SIL, but won't actually be put together until nearer due date as we have visitors prior to then who will need the room to sleep in. Might not even be put together until end of July, as we have more visitors who will need the room before then (baby will be in moses basket with us)

Slightly scared I might jinx things if fully prepared before his arrival!

Im 27+3 and painted the walls at the weekend.

The cot is already up in there as DD moved out of it at xmas and didnt see the effort in taking it apart only to put it back up again in a few months, especially when theres an empty room it can go in easily.
Drawers etc are up and Im in the middle or washing/ironing all the baby clothes from DD ready to fill the drawers.

Only needs the finishing touches now.. pictures and new curatin pole and curtains. Ive suprised myself how organised I am actually. We are manically busy throughout March and April not leaving much time for deocrating anyway.

I am painfully impatitent too

Thanks for the replies! The baby's room in the new house is already painted a lovely soft pink so I intend to keep it that way. Intend to sort out curtains, drawers and carpet etc by mid March and the cot a few weeks later. The cot seems like the starring piece of the puzzle (not to mention the baby!) so want that to go in last. Is that weird?!

When ds was about 6 months. Maybe even older actually... I moved in just after he was born and as his cot was in my room anyway, it just didn't seem terribly important.

I don't think I'd bother this time around either, as I'd rather keep the spare room as a spare room for as long as possible.

My 2 year old doesn't have a room . She's still in with us. My 4yo has a room done for him, but he is also still in with us.

Not something to panic about, although the cot is the most useful piece of kit!

When DD was 2 years old

I am 10 days off my due date and the decorator will be finishing up today!
Ours will be in with us for a while though, so it was more not wanting people in the house afterwards that prompted the last-minute splurge on decorating! (As well as the desire to see the nice baby things all laid out in their place)

err....when dd was 10 years old. It's not a compulsory stage of having a baby.

Hmmmm, well DH has ripped up the old carpet (recently moved into a house that has very tired decor and needs quite a bit of work and it had a stained horrible old carpet) and we have ordered the new one but DH has taken a fancy to the idea of moving the radiator (utterly pointless job IMO, but whatever..) and needs his dad to help him with it before we go any further. So at present, FIL is procrastinating ('oh, you've got months to go yet, better to do it when it's warmer, I'll have to drain the system and you'll have no heating or hot water while I'm working'), the lady in the carpet shop is (quite rightly) hassling us to arrange to have the new carpet (which is cluttering up her shop) fitted and we have yet to buy any paint. I'm hoping to make the curtains myself, but cannot fathom how to thread my fancy new sewing machine (which is still sitting with its dust cover on, has never even been plugged in as I am too much of a dunce to work out how the bobbin drops in) so I reckon it will be at least another year at this rate before ANYTHING gets done and in the meantime we have nowhere to store the essentials we've been buying and can't order furniture as same problem would arise.

Not bothering - might paint the room when we decorate our bedroom next month but it won't be for the baby as such.

LO will be in with us for at least siz months and maybe longer. Only have 2 bedrooms so need to maximise the use of space.

Will probably re-decorate when LO moves out of our room.
