I thought with DC2 that heads often doesn't engage until very close to labour...yesterday midwife says i am 4/5 engaged so dc is on the descent. DS was born on due date and I have 2 weeks to go....
Any experiences of head engaging with DC2 and onset of labour time?
I am supposed to be going to see Noddy in Toyland with DS on saturday (wasn't planned but had tickets that would expire if not used)...means driving from London to Oxford. Am I crazy to contemplate this?
DH will pack car with baby seat, hospital bags etc just in case, hoping we won't be needing them, but in reality if things did happen on saturday, it may not be realistic to get back in London in time, as 2nd labours can be quick.
Don't want to disappoint my DS but at the same time want to have the baby here, not in Oxford!

I have to say I would go - DD was fully nagaged and I was 3cm from 33 weeks and she was born at 40+5.

I have planned to go and see a friend 2 hours away 4 days before I'm due this time, I will pack my bag and things in the car and take someone with me just incase.

I was 4/5 engaged at 37 weeks with DC3. Am now 39+5 weeks and yesterday when I saw the midwife she said baby has reversed out and head is now free.

So anything can happen!

Yes agree, with first baby head gets engaged and stays put but with subsequent babies anything can happen. I am pregnant with #2 and was 4/5th at 34w 3/5th at 36w then at my consultant appointment at 38w she wrote 5/5th - I questionsed her writing as it wasn't clear but she said 'yes your baby is not engaged' Then at MW on Tuesday she wrote 3/5th again so head back down and engaged.
I'd go but as you say have all the things you might need in the car.

thanks for replies....guess I will be off to see Noddy this weekend then!...didn't know baby could reverse out again......wouldn't be surprised if mine does that as it is such a wriggler!
