I'm expecting DC2 and over the last couple of weeks, my bump has become like a heavy, hard football and quite achy, especially in the evening or if I'm standing. I feel like I need to 'hold' the bump to support it.

I'm also occasionally getting 'stabbing' pains across my abdomen. I'm also getting regular braxton hicks.

I never got these with DC1 and I'm assuming it's normal, but thought I'd ask mumsnet wisdom!

Thanks for reading.

Hiya,

I'm expecting DC2 also and your post mirrors what I'm going through (I'm 32 weeks now). I feel worse on the days I'm off work and looking after my toddler as I invariably lunge over and pick him up when something happens (falls etc.) so I'm not able to realistically "be careful" as I can't help acting on instinct.

I have pressure sort of pain in lower bump and sometimes I feel like I can't walk when I get up from sitting - but this eases off the more I move around. I have a lot of branston pickles too and my bump goes like rock often when I'm walking - plus I get those stabbing pains when I turn over in bed quite often. Think it's all to do with stretchy ligaments and that relaxin hormone making it much easier to cause injuries.

Sorry, not much help - just tea and sympathy I'm afraid! Glad to hear I'm not alone in this though!

Meeshamie - thanks for posting. It's good to hear it's normal (although sorry you're suffering too!).

This time seems so much harder than last time doesn't it? Whinge whinge

When this baby seemed to drop at about 36 weeks, I started feeling so much pressure and a need to put my hand uner my bump when I was walking around - which obviously is not always practical!
I rediscovered my stretchy bump bands which had been too loose and/or too bulky earlier on and had been discarded at back of wardrobe. Seems to take a bit of the support and keeps my very low belly and naughty kidneys (3 infections) warm!
