my period was due 5th of feb. tested on 6th, got BFN. i saw the faintest of lines but it was after 10 minutes and the instructions said not to take result after that point. tested again twice on 8th but still negative. still no sign of period.

would you test again?

i dont want to build my hopes up again and test to get another negative. how long would you leave it?

yes! definitely test.

MumNWLondon · 16/02/2010 20:04

do you usually have regular cycles? if so def test again. i would say if you have regular cycles to test every 3 days using FMU - but you have left it a week.....

Booyhoo · 16/02/2010 21:32

sorry, i had to go out and ended up at my parents.

i have no tests in. doing shopping tomorrow.

my cycles are usually between 28-31 days. usually more towards the 31 days.

what is FMU?

booyhoo FMU is First Morning Urine (i think) My period would be 2 weeks late come tomorrow. Last week was testing like mad and got BFN's all the time, this morning i tested using first response using FMU and I got a faint positive so if i were you i'd buy more tests and use them...good luck!

Booyhoo · 16/02/2010 23:34

oh thank you. i will test again then tomorrow.

Did you test? You've got me on the edge of my seat here??

designerjooles · 17/02/2010 10:41

Get a digital one and do with the first urine of the morning too and that should give you a definite answer. Good luck!!

no havent tested yet. going in about half an hour to do shopping. afraid i couldnt hold my FMU that long so i have missed that. should i wait til tomorrow morning to test?

i think i am pregnant. i have been running to the loo far more often than usual. that's a sign isnt it? OH thinks i am because i am very clingy with him. ( i was like that with the first two aswell)

FMU is recommended as its more concentrated - you can get a similar effect by trying to hold on for as long as possible (4 hours or more is the guideline, I think) and then testing.

Fingers crossed you

(www.accessdiagnositcs.co.uk are good for cheap pregnancy tests, although I know that won't help Booyhoo now - although you might want to get some of their ultra-early ones if this test is -ve but you still feel pregnant).

If you haven't got any tests in but are desperate to know, you can collect your FMU in a cup and stick it in the fridge - should be good for at least a day)

loueytbg · 17/02/2010 17:51

I can't believe your willpower Booyhoo - I would have caved ages ago. Good luck!

Booyhoo · 17/02/2010 17:51

tested there now with first response and it was -ve.

i will test again in the morning with FMU.

keep us posted won't you?

On the subject of peeing and keeping FMU, I did that with dd2. Was staying with ILs so didn't have any hpts in house. So I peed (in an evian bottle, if memory serves), went out and got a digital test. We were in the process of dipping when FiL walked in .

Luckily, a) he's on another planet b) he wouldn't recognise a hpt I'm pretty sure.

Well, that's my pee-and-keep story!

Booyhoo · 17/02/2010 22:08

that's a good'un.

i will be thinking about that now when i am testing in the morning!!

yes will keep you posted. thought i felt cramps this evening but very short lived and i was bfeeding ds2 at the time so not sure what to make of that!!

If you are still breastfeeding would be "normal" to have occasional longer cycle as bf-ing can suppress ovulation.

BooyhooNOTboohoooORbooyou · 17/02/2010 22:29

that's what i was thinking. i also realised tonight that i was sick for about a week around when i should have ovulated so could be a result of that.

KentuckyFriedPenguin · 17/02/2010 22:32

bf can skew af quite a bit

BooyhooNOTboohoooORbooyou · 18/02/2010 13:03

well, i tested again this morning with FMU and it was still -ve so i'm clearly not pregnant.

thank you for all your lovely advice and support. hopefully i will be back here again one day with better news.
