and then hope no-one will have noticed!

I'm 7+1 with DC2.

I have eaten some truly un-nutritious and odd lunches in the last few weeks. Today, in the rain, I almost ran from my desk to the supermarket, desperate for......
microwave spinach and ricotta canelloni, a ginsters chicken and mushroom slice, a packet of frazzles and a large bottle of water. Oh dear oh dear. Please don't tell me I'm a terrible person usually often I have something of nutritional value

(for example, yesterday I had a jacket poatato with baked beans and a big bowl of salad, which is probably ok)

Huhhh! Also I just remembered I got a bar of dairy milk for later!!!

Someone please make me feel better and top my dodgy lunch!

I can soooooo beat you. I had a packet of salt and vinegar twirls (a really big packet I am disgusting) and then a load of those "Maoam" chewy sweets.

And most of the day I have been grazing on marmite on toast and numerous cups of tea. I feel like I'm hungover, you know when all you want is strong tasting stuff? I'm only 5 weeks too!

I can't stop eating crap, I'm going to get so fat!!

hopingforanother · 16/02/2010 14:11

Oooh - that is quite low on nutritional value dappy! Yes, marmite on toast and general bread items are very high on my list too!

Thank you - I feel better about that Ginsters thing now.

To make me feel doubly bad, there is a woman in my office who is preg and is swanning about eating really healthy food - actual snacks - yoghurt with fruit and superfood salads and such like - rather than a constant stream of food items - which I know will be me in a few weeks. It's the rich tea biscuits - last time I just couldn't stop eating them.....

Cheese salad sandwiches, pref. on white squidgy bridge rolls but anything will do, but must be with salad cream. And always more than one, usually fighting off DD and DS so I get to eat them all, followed by Toblerone (until the 3 giant ones DP brought back from France are gone). Just soooooo hungry. Am 12 weeks and not surprisingly in maternity clothes already.

dappymoo · 16/02/2010 16:44

Oh my god now I just want rich teas and toblerone! (do you think we use pregnancy as an excuse to indulge ourselves? Oh well!) Actually no it's probably just because when you feel sick all the time you only want what you like lots!

That big bowl of granny smiths looks very lonely on my coffee table.

Haggisfish · 16/02/2010 17:05

For the first twelve weeks, I ate crumpets dripping in butter and jam, cheese on toast, crisps, baked potatoes and doughnuts. I actively disliked any veg/slad and fruit, although I forced myself to have a glass of Innocent smoothie every day in an attempt to be healthy. Now, at 20 weeks, my appetite for veg and salad is back, and my diet is ok (although still quite food heavy,as it were, compared to my normal intake!).

I would just advise you eat what you fancy, take your folic acid and a vitamin supplement if you are really worried. But don't worry - just try and enjoy it!

dappymoo · 16/02/2010 17:13

I actually can't seem to have any restraint either, once I fancy it, I have to have it. I think I have piggy-disease.

SilverSky · 17/02/2010 14:43

what vitamin supplements? I am taking folic acid only. I am 4 or 5wks i think! Had bacon and cheese hot pasty for lunch today! Yum!

CherryPie3 · 17/02/2010 15:08

Am 17wks and tbh have been craving mostly fruit and jacket potatoes or pasta.

But Since I got to 2nd trimester I want chips and gravy, chewy sweets (not fussy which as long as they're not sour) with only the occasional apple/satsuma!! Am loving jam donuts too

Gonna be the size of a house post pregnancy as well as during!!!!!!

You are definitely not a bad person!!!

FutureMum · 17/02/2010 16:10

My list of what I can eat without turning my stomach has expanded to include a few items of nutritional value, but for lunch at the mo is microwawable ready meals (good quality ones). Basically, if it looks like the real thing (homemade food, which I normally love) it makes me feel sick. Meals seem to work better than baguettes at the moment.

missedith01 · 17/02/2010 17:54

Friends bought us a big wheel of brie at the weekend and I'm a cheese junkie but I'm 35w so I certainly did not have a taste.

Lastyearsmodel · 18/02/2010 07:40

Buying a pregnant cheese junkie a whole brie? These are not the actions of a friend!

I went out for a meal last night and when I looked at the menu, the words 'Stilton' and 'goat's cheese' appeared to jump out of the page from 6 or 7 dishes. Bastards. But the steak pie was quite nice.

Spirael · 18/02/2010 08:34

Ahh but cheese is all good if it's cooked first. So shove that cheese wheel in the oven and grab some bread sticks!

I've been living off toasted cheese sandwiches with all the cheeses I'm supposedly not allowed. Part baked rolls filled with brie and cranberry sauce then cooked are soooo good!

Though for lunch at work I've been struggling as I currently can't seem to manage any carbohydrates that are cold... Sandwiches, cold pasta, potato salads, etc. There's no toaster or microwave at my office, which is a bit of a pain really!

My first 12 weeks were spent eating whatever I could tolerate at the time, which wasn't generally anything healthy unfortunately. However from 13 weeks I've been helpfully craving fruit and spicy food, both of which can be relatively healthy.

I think I'm getting about ten-a-day at the moment with fruit! Which has the added bonus of...keeping everything moving.

oopsandbabycoconut · 18/02/2010 08:40

I spent the first 20ish week needing supernoodle type things but only the cheap Lidl version, they must have thought I was nuts buying boxes of them at a time - I was eating 3 or 4 packets a day and last week I had to have Ginsters chicken and mushroom slice with cherry pop.

hopingforanother · 18/02/2010 12:59

Well ladies, you have certainly made me feel better with your dodgy diet choices! Thank goodness I'm not alone :-) I was feeling like a terrible person for not squeezing every scrap of goodness out of my diet for the new LO. I think I'm being affected by the paranoia of others!!!

lastyear why is that? Restaurants only serve food we can't have, and how much I clamour after chunky pate.

However, today I had left overs from dinner with was a healthy vegetarian mushroomy rice thing (VERY well reheated I might add), so I'm feeling virtuous...and a little peckish!

For me, the perfect lunch today would have been:
Starter: soup and bread
main: saveloy and chips with lots of salt and vinegar
pudding: hot chocolate crunch pudding from the 90s.

I have also started stock piling food in the office already. I have a six pack of sugar free ginger beer, two cans of soup, a can of spaghetti, some crackers, a multipack of frazzles and various hot drink items.

Hm what will tomorrow bring? tinned spaghetti on toast? Perhaps a BURGER!

oops that is truly impressive! I did linger in the noodle section, but as you mention, actual supernoodles didn't appeal, it was the 19p a pack type I needed with a little sachet of 'wonton' flavouring. I briefly considered a pot noodle but then the microwave pasta caught my eye....

Oh and incidentally, the lunch that started this thread gave me a bad TUMMY ACHE and I couldn't sleep! Serves me right.

On the days I can face food (9+4 at the mo) my lunch choices have been very odd. Today I had 3 cupcakes, a piece of cheddar, a jaffa cake and tea. I have an inexplicable new love of milkshakes which is bizarre given that until this point in my life just the thought of them made me feel queasy. And cheddar. Liked it a little before, cannot get enough of it now.

And those Sainsbury's trifles in 3 packs are all I can think about too. I used to be so healthy. I am going to be a total lardarse by the time this sprog drops. Oh well.
