Hi please could someone tell me when the next midwife appointment is after booking in. I am now 16 weeks and have not heard from the midwife as to when I see her. I have a history of miscarriage and feel abit abandoned at the moment. I had me 12 weeks scan 3 weeks ago all was fine.

My second appointment was at 16 weeks, but where I live we have self-booking so I am responsible for making my own appointments as I go along. There's a chart in the front of my notes saying when to make the appointments and who with (e.g. hospital or midwife). The only appointment that was booked for me was my 20 week scan appointment, which the hospital booked and noted in my notes before I left after my first scan.

Were you told at booking in whether you should be making your own appointments? Check the first few pages of your notes too in case there are any instructions.

My 16 week appt involved a blood test (for Downs), listening with the doppler and a general chat.

Crikey, I too had been waiting for someone to call for my 16 week appointment... Now almost 18 weeks

MumNWLondon · 16/02/2010 14:47

I had to book them all in myself - they only send the scans and booking in appointment by post. But this was made clear at the booking in appointment when they gave me the timetable.

TBH I have gone to see GP whenever possible as easier to make appointment (they have online booking) - have only saw midwife at 28 weeks at that one has to be with midwife or at hospital. Will go back at 34 weeks....

Mine was at 14 weeks and like other posters I have to book all the appointments myself.

The self-booking system round our way is shambolic - they did explain it to me at the hospital, but they didn't tell me who I should ring so I tried the GP surgery first who didn't know what I was talking about, then fretted about whether to ring the midwife community team number which was a mobile and then eventually rang the GP surgery back and this time they DID know what I meant and said the midwife surgery is Thursday afternoons, then proceeded to offer me a Friday morning appointment .

Honestly, it's a wonder anyone round here gets any ante-natal care - it's like the Krypton Factor just trying to get an appointment.

Just phoned the doctors to find out about 16 week appointment and was tol I should have booked after my booking in appointment. I am being seen this thursday so will still be 16 weeks thanks for the help.
