Is swelling this early a cause for concern?

Hi,

This may be completely normal but thoughts from MNetters would really help!

I am 21 weeks pregnant, and have generally had a good time of it? back problems already but not a lot else.

DH and I had a very emotionally stressful weekend for various reasons and yesterday and today I find that the stress is making me a little breathless and I have pins and needles in my fingers and toes as well as some swelling. I know that swelling and so forth is considered normal? but my google searches ( I am at work, nowhere near the baby books) indicate that this is a 3rd trimester issue, and should not be happening this early (?)

I should add that my blood pressure is usually fine.

Should I be worried? I hate to call my midwife if I am just going through something ordinary and normal!

Any advice gratefully received?.

Thanks, MPuppykin

call you midwife, reassuring you is part of her role and always worth getting checked if you are worried (which you are)

Talk to your midwife. They do look at swelling and puffiness as a symptom of some things, but they do other checks to go along with it. I swelled up like a giant puffball last time round and couldn't wear my wedding ring for months. OH bought me a chain to wear it round my neck. The midwfie ruled out anything more than just being a puffy kind of person though!

Thanks. Will do as you both suggest. I am actually alot calmer now and will call m/w tomorrow for a check.
