parvovirsus ( slapped cheek syndrome)!! advice needed please!!!!

Hi im anoyed as i had a blood test in 1st pregnancy to check for this n can not remember outcome!! I think a friends son mite have it at the mo had hr contact with him today n he had rosy red cheeks like wen u r hot! but wasnt really hot to touch no ova symptoms!!! Does any one know wot the rash actually looks like??? Anyway wen rang to check results gp has no records n midwifes checked my file n it said had test but results wernt their!!! Would it not have been picked up at time of test in 2006 if it was showing i needed further action or if bloods wasnt taken correctly?? Also gp said i dont need a retest as im 34 wks think it is b4 20 wks u can have problems!! Please has any one any experience or knowledge of this as it would be really helpful!! Thanks =) xxx

I wouldn't worry about it on the basis that you're now 34 weeks. Before 19 weeks may be an issue.

Its unusual to be tested for this unless you specifically request it because you think you've had contact with someone with the disease. However, most people are immune and have had it even if they don't realise it. Even if you're not you wont necessarily catch it.

The rash looks exactly like you've been slapped hard and it can also spread down the body.

He was probably just too hot!!

Firstly, once the rash is visible the child is not infectious. So unless you had contact with him prior to the rash developing, you are not at risk.

Secondly, the baby is fully developed at 34 weeks, and the virus affects development of the baby, so no risk there.

ok thanks to both of u for that!! i def had the test done in first pregnancy cause was earlier on n had contact through work,this time its just been today wen i saw him for an hr!!! im just also annoyed they carnt find my results!!( is it a spotty rash or a patch of red as his was an area of red on each side not patchy/spotty!) xxx
