Reduced movements at 33 weeks

I am 33 and a bit weeks and in the last few days the baby's movements have reduced a lot. I can still feel some movement but not much compared to the amount before which was loads. Anything to worry about? I know they move less as they get bigger but seems fairly sudden though I guess in the last fortnight he has gone from 4 to 5 lbs which is actually quite big.

You are right, they do move less as they get bigger. If you are at all worried though you should ring delivery suite and go in and get monitored. And have no qualms about doing that. Hope all is ok xx

Babies should not have less movements as they get bigger.

If you are not getting 10 movements in 12 hours or you have any changes you need to get checked out.

Definitely go and get checked out imo. You should still be feeling lots of movements.

Hi Gangle, go and get checked out at the labour suite, your baby is probably fine, maybe just in a different position but you should never ignore your worries about this. Give them a call and pop in to be checked over.

Lulumama · 08/02/2010 17:06

it is not about ten movements per 12 hours as such, but if you notice a change in your baby's activity

if you feel that your baby's movements have reduced a lot, you need to be checked out

they don't move less as they get bigger, you get a different type of movement and feeling of movement

Saucepanman · 08/02/2010 18:50

Sorry yes that is what I meant, as Lenin said, there might be a change in the movements. I was trying to word it in a way that would not scare the OP unnecessarily, and obviously failed. would definitely get checked out if you are concerned.

Lenin me too

Gangle · 08/02/2010 21:43

thanks all. Actually had loads of movements since posting this, typically! Seeing dr tomorrow anyway so will get it checked out then as well. Just think it was because he was moving SO much before, literally all the time, and that I hadn't really been paying attention to it over the weekend as too caught up with DS whereas in the week when at work and sitting down I tend to be much more aware of any movements.

Gangle, that's good news

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 09/02/2010 08:23

That is great.

Hi. Am 33 weeks pregnant having an elective c section because I had 2 previous c sections before. Now my baby is sitting on the left side and movements have decreased. My doctor is suggesting I have a c section at 40 weeks is that normal.

GrowBabyGrow · 04/08/2022 20:12

@Prim92 this is a really old thread so best to start your own one to get advice but definitely go get checked if you have any reduced movements
