Glycerin suppositories during pregnancy?

I get really constipated sometimes, not due to diet but due to poor sleep patterns. Becuase of my pg (am only 5 weeks I think just now) I am not taking any sleeping tablets, but am having bad constipation despite eating mountains of fibre etc.

Usually I'd just use a glycerin suppository which always works really quickly, but am not sure if I'm allowed during pregnancy.

I'm seeing the GP tomorrow but anybody got any thoughts/ experiences in the interim? I can't help thinking it would be ok as it's only up there a few minutes before it's back out again, but I don't want to risk anything stupid.

it will be fine (look at leaflet that comes with them) - but best to discuss with GP. The piles suppositories which contain active ingredients too are all say on the leaflets that they are ok to use in pregnancy.

Hey,
I have and have always been fine. I don't use them regularly but if things need a helping hand then I will because sometimes you just can't stick the 'full handbag' feeling any longer!
There's no medication in them and they don't work like laxatives so I don't think there should be a problem
