what do contractions feel like?

woke up at 4am and had a massive nosebleed. atlmost instantly i started getting period like cramp and then really strong tightenings which are a little painful. its like someone it doing a belt up really tight and im feeling them like every 15mins although only for like 30secs. also had a funny tummy too and feeling rather sick.

am i being optimistic? im 37+3

goodluck cheesecake, i woke at 2 this morning with period-type cramps and very strong braxton hicks but am relieved they only lasted an hour as i have nothing prepared, going to get the things for hospital today! am hoping its not an early start for me just yet.

hey banana, had the exact same thing as you on wednesday when i was also exactly 37+3, 5 and a half hours later i ended up with a baby. I didn't realise contractions were like extreme period pain and the baby hadn't seemed to have dropped and my waters never broke until she was born, had some mucussy stuff but it wasn't red for a couple of hours and I thought when it did start to be red that maybe i had just been wiping that area too much and burst a wee blood vessel. I would suggest phoning your midwife as soon as she' open, or phoning the hospital triage and arrange to come in.

Mine were like period pain too, except in the lower left of my back. .
Do the pains go away when you move around??? If not, you might be in business!!! Good luck...

How far gone are you Bella? And congrats bumble!

I went back to bed because i was exhausted, and now they have stopped! :-( I was so excited, was so hoping this was it! Especially as my hind waters went on weds. Arghhh so annoying! I might start bouncing on my ball in hope that will get things going again.

Mine were like a pulling/tightening sensation that started low and then moved up.

my first contraction came on due date, i got up for wee in the middle of the night and couldnt get off the toilet with a mighty contraction, literally could not get my body off the toilet for about 30 seconds or more. like major cramps shot up my whole bump... 27 hours later and i had a lovely girl! good luck.

this reminds me of first time around, i was no NOT in labout but every little twinge I though ah ha! TRUST ME , when its a contraction, you will know!!!!!
