Hello,

I have been taking pregnacare for the last few week's as we are hoping ttc soon but since i have taken them they have given me terrible palpatations. I have stopped taking them and it has now stopped!! I was wondering what vitamins do i need to take i know folic acid, is there any else? as i may start taking single vitamins instead of a multi vitamin, and do i need to take more than folic acid?

thank you

The only thing you should take in pregnancy is folic acid for the first 12 weeks - anything else is your choice. I'd say it's better to focus on getting good nutrition from your diet really then you don't have to worry about supplements much.

Do be careful though if you choose to take another multivit - Vit A for example is a big no as it can damage the foetus.

Sorry you had problems with Pregnacare - I am taking it myself this time round (didn't do anything with first pg other than folic acid) and no problems so far. Not taking it so much for DC (focus on good diet) as for me - had real problems with hair and nails in last pregnancy and wanted to supplement with zinc and a few other things this time to see if that helps me.

Agree with Meg - take the folic acid and just eat healthily.

I had to stop taking Pregnacare for similarr reasons in my first pregnancy. In subsequent ones I've just taken folic acid.

Thank you, i think just carry on with the folic acid and eat well is a good idea.
