Steak. Bit inconvenient as had been a vegetarian for all my adult life on grounds of disliking meat. Now DS is 18mo and I am a total carnivore

Otherwise, not much apart from a brief but intense love affair with orange Lucozade and Cadbury's Caramel.

OrmRenewed · 04/02/2010 11:52

Gherkins and pickled onions.

And gaviscon

KayloHalo · 04/02/2010 11:59

Cyteen My friend was the same as you - completely vegetarian until pregnant with her first and she craved bacon sandwiches - she is no longer vegetarian

OrmRenewed I totally forgot about pickled onions - they have been another 3rd pg raving, but only straight from the jar

Yeah, I sit next to a woman who had the same thing. Very weird, both of us had a total palate change!

Shame he couldn't stop me liking chocolate

missedith01 · 04/02/2010 12:17

Absolutely none, but I've gone off a lot of things.

Can't go near an onion unless it is cooked away to nothing. I have an aversion to wholemeal crumbs (what that's about I have no idea, I don't mind white bread crumbs but wholemeal crumbs make me feel sick). Fish is really off-putting too.

Sadly, I still want to eat cheese, the more unpasturised, stinky and blue-veined the better. But that was me before I was pregnant so I can't say it's a craving.

About the only thing I like now that I didn't like before is sweetcorn. But I only like it now, and I didn't violently dislike it before, I just wasn't that fussed.

It's a pity because I spent a lot of time up to 20w with morning sickness not wanting to eat at all, and I was really looking forward to craving something. A little craving for anything would have done. But it's never happened.

Galaxy bars and limeade - at the same time!

winnybella · 04/02/2010 12:32

Marshmallow Fluff- in bed with a spoon out of the jar.
Wouldn't normally touch the stuff.

Spirael · 04/02/2010 12:37

Haaa... Snap, Kaylo. Satsumas here too! Was never fussed with them before, but I keep a bag of them by my desk now for munching on during the day. Started drinking orange juice too, which I've never really liked until now. Weird!

Though to be honest, any fruit is good at the moment. Particularly love cherries, but I loved them beforehand so it probably doesn't count. Same with cheese, which I've been addicted to my entire life!

Aside from that... Chillis of all things. For some reason, my tolerance for all things spicy is ridiculously good all of a sudden. I was expecting it to go the other way and become super sensitive.

I feel a little bad for my poor DH... Everything I cook I've been sneaking chilli into. He sits there in agony, eyes and nose streaming, while I comment that I need to add more chilli next time because I can barely taste it!

I have a couple of things I've gone off. Most problematic seems to be cold carbs, like cold pasta, potatoes or bread. If the bread is warm from the oven or the potatoes/pasta nicely cooked then it's fine, but it turns my stomach thinking about them cold! It's making lunchtimes at work (no microwave/kettle) a real PITA...

nancy75 · 04/02/2010 12:40

freezing cold drinks and ice. don't know how i,ve got any teeth left, i used to sit eating ice cubes all night - in my defence dd was born in summer 2005 and it was boiling!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 04/02/2010 12:43

Haven't craved or gone off anything, either time. Except for missing red wine, big time

KayloHalo · 04/02/2010 12:53

Spirael We are too alike for our own damn good

Nancy When I pregnant with ds I used to sit chomping on ice pops, not a craving as such tho - more of a necessity. He was born July 2006, another very hot summer

I know! I swear we must be clones, or long lost twins, separated at birth! ... Though, born in different years...

Maybe I need to rethink my theory...

Morloth · 04/02/2010 13:40

I haven't had many in either. But last week I wanted gherkins dipped in chocolate ice cream (I had it too, it was YUM - also dipped my chips in it).

This week I cannot eat enough pineapple. Fresh/canned/juice doesn't matter I just want it sooooo bad. Which is a bugger because it gives me the worst acid reflux. So am eating pineapple and chewing rennies/gaviscons.

Oh and last week it was protein. Didn't matter what really but my preference was steak, but I chomped through steak, eggs, chicken and cheese at an alarming rate. Babes got bigger all of a sudden as well, so I guess he needed it for something.

Mumcah · 04/02/2010 14:31

Ice.When pregnant with DD I could get through crunching 2 pints of ice cuble a night.
I'm pregnant again and now back on the ice although I'm into freezing cartons of juice and eating those of an evening.

onlyjoinedforoffers · 04/02/2010 14:38

ds1 jars of mixed pickles especially the pickled cauliflower, never the gherkins

KayloHalo · 04/02/2010 14:52

Oooh, Mumcah what a good idea - reckon I'll prob adopt that come hot weather Although I may go back to the ice-pops again.

Fibilou · 04/02/2010 18:05

Nothing apart from sherbert dips in the first 3 months

Monstermuncher · 04/02/2010 18:48

Pickled onion monster munch (hence the nickname)
Also Greggs pasties - yom!

thislittlesisterlola · 04/02/2010 19:30

satumas here too! I cannot function without citrus- esp. Lemon and lime water. I also crave peanut butter on toast with a glass of strawberry milk- i want it now! Also hot spicy food and sausage rolls with gaviscon on the side am having such a rubbish dinner i want all of the above

daisyj · 04/02/2010 19:37

In my last month all I wanted was cold fruity things - I found jelly was the perfect food, and I'd buy a little pot of rasberry jelly with the raspberries on top from M&S every morning for breakfast, and then ate a whole big pyrex bowl of tangerine jelly while I was in labour (long early labour).

LadyThompson · 04/02/2010 19:44

Ice, lime pickle and the smell of nail varnish. I realise the latter is dangerous but it drove me nuts and I used to allow myself one very faint whiff (just taking the lid of the bottle, not inhaling) per day.

Orange juice, but I won't be making that mistake this time (am nearly 6 wks gone) - it made me quite fat...
