Is it bad to have an extra scan between 8-12 weeks?

Am so anxious that everything is not alright that I wanted to have another scan.. Is that not okay? What do you think?

Sorry you're so anxious - is it about anything in particular or just in general?
I think you will struggle to get a scan on NHS unless there's something specific, sorry if that's not helpful

is there a specific reason for you to be so worried? I would discuss this with your midwife or GP and try to get a referral. Wishing you all the best!

I had two scans (internal) before my 12 week scan (due to early problems) and on both occasions the midwife explained that the scans could do no harm to the baby. I imagine that the risks with scans is very small and I doubt anyone can tie problems with their baby to having too many scans.

"The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said parents-to-be should not hesitate to continue taking advantage of ultrasound scans for diagnostic purposes.
However they should consider the uncertainties when deciding whether to have ultrasound scans that do not have a defined diagnostic benefit"

I agree - I'd only have scans for genuine diagnostic reasons, esp before 12 weeks - although the official line is that the risks are small/minimal why subject your baby to extra unnecessary scans at this sensitive time?

Have you already had one - and if so why do you think its not ok?

DD1 has a brain malformation, a neuronal migration disorder (basically bit didnn't travel to the right place). I had scans at 4+6, 5+6, and 7+6.

Having said that, I had early scans with DDS 2&3 too, and they are fine.
