36+5- my waters went with a gush. but hospital says there not sure :-s

i was at work (im a nanny) and went upstairs for a wee. noticed the floor was soaking, sat down had a wee and i got up to ask the girls who made the mess, looked down and realise my trousers were soakin and it was from me! i didnt even realise!

went to the hospital who did a internal. im not dilated but had very heavy discharge apparently. and they said they werent concinvinced my waters had actually gone.

i would of known if i had wet myself and it didnt smell like urine either. so they have sent me home, told me to wear a pad and if it gets really wet to head back for another examination.

im gettin achy pains now but not wetness :-s

any advice?

I'm guessing that you will probably have a baby in the next day or so..

Did they not scan you ? Or use those test sticks that show if it's amniotic fluid or not

you can have pre labour rupture of membranes PROM before going in to labour.
Sometimes you go in to labour within 24 hours, sometimes not. The risk from what I know is infection (I had to monitor my temperature on a regular basis)

If you are term, from my VERY limited knowledge, they tend to want to induce after a certain amount of time, as the risk to the baby from prematurity is less than the risk from infction.

Have they asked you to go back for a checkup if labour doesn't start?

I had a rupture of membranes at 27 weeks, and went on to have a healthy baby at 34 weeks if that is any reassurance

nope they didnt give me a scan or dip stick test. i had changed my trousers and undies and put a pad on, but the pad was dry.

thye just said to ring back if if gets wet. and i dont know if i can have a bath??

still no more leakage :-( but been up all night feeling sick, with period like pains and strong braxtons hicks. think im getting my hopes up though!

if it's not still leaking it could be that your waters have not ruptured, but you;ve had a hindwater leak. if your waters had gone, you would be leaking especially when you have a ctx.

it sounds like you could do with being checked out again as you are having strong BH and period pains, as you are just under 37 weeks, i would call labour ward for advice and reassurance

jellybeans.. no advice really, as I was told at a 28weeks scan that my waters had gone went on to 35+5weeks.Waters had gone weeks before according to the consultant due to shape of babies head she had dolicopholous!!(SP)

Maybe things are happening with the strong BH. I have had stong ones through the night and this morning too.. not holding my breath though.. they are definatley pushing the bbay down though.. I feel like i have a bowling ball between my legs.
