Hi, I am a first-timer Mum to Be and Baby has been given a due date of 1 October. Very early dates still, so nervous and excited I cannot think about anything else! Planning not to tell family and friends till the first three months are over, but it's going to be tough!
Anyone else expecting an October baby out there?

  1. You can't eat for two, in fact you're lucky if you can eat for one
  2. you will go off all your favourite foods and drinks
babybunting2010 · 08/03/2010 17:51
  1. You end up having the skin of a greasy teenager
  2. You can't fit into your clothes within weeks of finding out you are preggers but you are too small to fit into Maternity wear!
Hermya321 · 08/03/2010 18:04
  1. You start blubbing in Sainsburies over the picture on front of the newborn nappies.
  2. You get tested for Syphilis by the midwife. I for one didn't realise we were in 16th century France but there you go.
sophieandbelly · 08/03/2010 18:25

hahah this is good soon we will b doing what they dnt tell u about child birth!!

8)that the aches and pains that we all get paniced about in early days r normal!

9)no such thing as the 'glow' look like shit (mayb just me!!)

10)that u no ur being a bitch but have no control over those hormones!!

  1. that every bastard tells u ooo life will change and such comments that will drive u mental by 6 mnths!!

sorry got bit carried away hormones!!!!!

Nymphadora · 08/03/2010 18:36

Hermya not seen that one on the testing list!

nomorewine · 08/03/2010 18:37

I agree with all of these!

  1. that you might have horrible wind that keeps you awake at night & not only can pregnancy lead to constipation, but also the squits!

Goodness I am feeling rough today. Fed up of feeling like pants & not knowing what I can stomach to eat or even drink!

DillyDora · 08/03/2010 18:44

hee hee we're having fun now! nomore I hear you and I couldn't agree more so my next one is:

  1. that you belch like a docker but it still brings no relief!
nomorewine · 08/03/2010 18:56
  1. that if you give in to the tiredness & have yourself a little sleep, you could feel all the worse for it & feel like you're hungover & not really functioning properly for the rest of the day!
nomorewine · 08/03/2010 19:00
  1. your social life comes to a complete & utter standstill from the moment of conception, as not only can you not join your friends for a drink (due to not being able to drink, not wanting to give the game away by fact you are not drinking & not having the slightest energy for it anyway!), but you can't even join friends for a cup of tea because the taste of it could well make you gag!
DillyDora · 08/03/2010 19:05

LOL I'm falling about laughing... I love this and I couldn't agree more with that last one! Can't think of any more, all my indignities/injustices are gastric in nature! O no...wait, there's this:

  1. Your boobs don't grow all big and lovely like they say, only your nipples grow strange and enormous and they hurt!
nomorewine · 08/03/2010 19:59

Lol, yes, you will be shocked everytime you remove your bra as your nipples are starting to resemble a quartre of a finger!!

17)to add to the boob appeal, you could end up with one breast (and nipple if you're really lucky) growing slightly larger than the other & hanging down just that bit lower!

nomorewine · 08/03/2010 20:03
  1. Your sex life will be no more as you will be scared of doing damage in the first few months, then once past that stage you will feel too fat & worry the baby may see something disturbing, then after that you will have a new baby & be too tired to even think about it!!
dappymoo · 08/03/2010 20:18

Oh man I am a wonky boob-er too!!

JazzieJeff · 08/03/2010 21:13
  1. You start appreciating the little things like seeing your feet in the morning.... how much longer until we say goodbye?!
  2. That even if you can fit into your jeans, you suddenly develop an aversion to anything that isn't elasticated and your Nan's wardrobe ceases to look scary and more like good common sense...
  3. The amount of people who say "Oh... was it planned?" will never cease to amaze you with their lack of social grace. No, actually, he forgot to pull out in time Hee hee! Wish they told you this stuff before you get yourself in the club!
MrsSenior · 08/03/2010 22:20

Hi guys,

I'm due sometime towards the end of Oct so I'm about 7-8 weeks. I have been reading your posts for a couple of weeks but been a bit shy about posting... so terrified something bad might happen before my 12 week scan that I'm almost trying to pretend I'm not pregnant. Although the constant exhaustion, all-day sickness and boobs that feel like they've been 10 rounds with Mike Tyson don't exactly allow me to forget!!

Does that sound wierd? I want to enjoy being pregnant, but just scared to.

Who knew baking a whole new person would make you feel this odd hey??!!

Hermya321 · 09/03/2010 07:58

Mrssenior Welcome to the thread and congratulations!! I think most of us are a bit worried that it's all going to go a bit Pete Tongue at the moment. I can relate, I thought I would love being pregnant but instead I find myself being worried all the time.

Nymph Do you have the green book? Or is yours different? My Midwife came out and said 'we'll be testing you for syphillis' I had to stop myself from laughing in her face.

  1. They tell you that you'll have vivid often naughty dreams when you're pregnant. What they don't tell you is that often those vivid dreams are very mundane like for example dreaming about being at work.
babybunting2010 · 09/03/2010 08:38

Hahaha I love that I seem to have started an epidemic!!!!

Mrs Senior: welcome. We do seem to be trained to not get excited about pregnancy until 12 weeks but it is so damn hard!

I am Freaking out today! I don't feel sick and boobs aren't hurting.... Could something have happened without realising?

  1. After a while you freak out when you don't feel numbers 1-22 in case something has gone wrong!

  2. Work seems to be the hardest thing to do and you end up sitting at your desk, chatting to people on forums! Oh wait... that's a good thing!

x

Nymphadora · 09/03/2010 09:28

Hermya- Yes its green. So are you same Health Auhority? I haven't read much of tbh I will only be having blood done for essentials as my blood doesn't come out easily and as it has to be my hands they only get 2 shots!

Hermya321 · 09/03/2010 09:34

Babybunting I've notice that my symptons seem to come and go, but if you're worried ring your GP or get yourself down to the EPAU.

Nymph I think we might be tbh. Ah right, I just figured if they were testing for stuff, they might as well get on with all of it. I very much doubt I have Syphilis though.

Nymphadora · 09/03/2010 10:31

Hermya are you further north than me? I don't think we have an EPU. Whens your appt?

musicposy · 09/03/2010 12:44

Hi everyone! Yesterday I was freaking out because I didn't feel sick any more and today I am regretting that moment of madness as I have felt sick non stop since 2am!

  1. if you are over 40, every medical professional you meet will ask if you used your own eggs.

  2. if you have older children (mine are 14 and 10) everybody will ask if it is your second marriage, if it was an accident or say sarcastically "three children? You're brave!"

The word "congratulations" seems to have left the vocabulary of everyone I know

I tell you, I'm going to hit somebody soon. I wonder if I will have access to mumsnet if I spend the rest of this pregnancy in prison on GBH charges?

VixStarr · 09/03/2010 14:03

Hey,

I am going to be a mummy in October too!

I am 9 wks and 5 yet my first booking appointment won't be until I am 12 wks 6. So I am thinking when on earth am I going to have my first scan?

My partner seems to think that they are leaving it this late as it is my 1st pg/age ( I am 23) but I am thinking that my GP/Midwife is being rubbish. Should I be worried? I mean I gave everyone time my GP knoew when i was 5 wks.

Anway congrats to all.

VixStarr · 09/03/2010 14:05

Plus forgive me for my atrocious spelling

mamjo · 09/03/2010 14:21
  1. a good Friday night now means being tucked up in bed by 10 when that was when you used to go out.

Hi Ladies,

I am new to mumsnet and haven't left a post on any forum before, isn't it wierd how pregnancy changes everything about what you consider to be a worthwhile use of your time?

  1. you waste hours online looking at things you aren't going to buy for at least 6 months.

I have been trying to avoid getting too excited untill the magical 12 weeks but I have my first ante natal tomorrow and can't concentrate on anything else today.

mamjo · 09/03/2010 14:40

wonders if everyone else is using Lent as a reason for giving up cigarettes and alcohol? I can't believe that my friends are falling for this - but they keep congratulating me on my will power!!!

Is any one else really missing having a few beers? does this make me a bad person? All the "earth mothers" in my office loved all of their pregnancy and I never heard them saying that they just wanted a nice bottle of wine and a plate full of shellfish.
