Has anyone used ProScan-UK in Nottingham?

Hello,

Just wondered if anyone had used ProScan-UK for an early scan?

I have just found out I'm pregnant and went into the docs surgery to book an appt only to be told to leave my details and the midwife will contact me around 10 weeks.

Talking to others it seems to be normal for a first midwife appt but it seems odd I was strongly discouraged from seeing my GP.

I would just feel happier knowing everything is ok, DH said if it stops me worrying for the next month its worth it.

Any advice? Thanks x

Hi there, I'm pretty new to MN, but have seen your post and can offer some info!!
I'm 28 weeks at the moment, I found out about proscan from my midwife at my booking appt at 8 weeks. She explained to me about different screening tests that you can have, and told me about nuchal translucency scans (to assess risk of downs syndrome) that proscan offer (amongst others). I got my dating scan date through from the hospital but I wanted to go for a scan earlier for peace of mind, and also to have the NT scan. I had this done at proscan at 11 weeks. The clinic is on regent street in nottingham city centre, and its really nice, as are the staff there. I was really nervous, but the sonographer was lovely and answered all my questions. It was so nice to go there first before the hospital, which was in contrast busy and a bit stressful (but still ok).
We got some really clear pictures considering bub was only 11 weeks along, and it was definitely worth every penny of the £100 it cost. By the way though, if you go for a scan at proscan don't tell them at the hospital when you go for your dating scan because they may not do it.

It will definitely give you peace of mind, it did for us!! Proscan do have a website which you can find if you google them, which has useful info.

Hope this helps, good luck with everything

Hi there, I also had an early dating scan at this clinic as I couldn't get to see the midwife in time. It was fine and they were very nice. However I did hear from a friend about someone who went there and had bad news from the scan and who was just rushed out and dealt with pretty unsympathetically,

Thank you for your replies ladies.

I visited the clinic and had a chat with them. We will probably go at about 7 weeks but not quite decided, I am feeling a bit more pregnant now, so it seems more real
