TMI... urine

Did my usual urine sample at mw appointment today, but when I looked at it (not sure why I did, never have before), there were, umm... bits at the bottom. Just teeny bits, mostly white but one pinkish (sorry, I know, TMI). Is that normal? Obviously I'm not in the habit of peeing in containers, and as I said I've never really looked at it before today. They didn't test it there and then; should I be worried that it's an infection or something? Or is it just tissue/discharge/other normal bodily unpleasantness?

I get this too, it's as if there are small pieces of cloudy tissue in the urine, and I haven't had any infections detected in mine. I have had a lot of bladder problems over the last few years and I have had to pee into jugs etc so became very 'aware' of my urine. I know this doesn't really help you, but if you are concerned I would def ask to be tested. Other than that all I can say is sometimes mine is clear, and sometimes it has bits in it

when you are pregnant, you can have more discharge and it can contaminate your wee sample. if you hvae pain, fever, or stinging when you wee, backache etc. then you could well have a UTI, but wee with some little bits in is probalby ok

I had this last time and was a bit worried it was glucose and I'd get in trouble (the MW had torn me off a strip about this before and told me to try and avoid this happening again), but it turns out the sample was clean as you like... I think it is the discharge thing like Lulu says... (nice huh!)

Thanks everyone, sounds like it's probably nothing to worry about. The hospital will obviously let me know at my next appointment if there is anything abnormal. The things we learn during pregnancy... In 5 weeks or so I guess I'll be preoccupied with someone else's wee and poo, so maybe this is good practice

I had to give loads of urine samples in pregnancy as I had a problem with my kidneys.

One day I had this floaty white thing about 1/2 cm across and I was freaking out .... till the mw pointed out it was a small bit of toilet paper that had been stuck there since the last time I went .....

Watch out for the infection signs, drink plenty and you shoudl be fine - and like you say, in 5 weeks someone elses bodily functions are going to be so much fun to deal with! Good luck!!
