has anyone else had this? Mw tested my urine yesterday for my 16 wk check for sugar and proteins. I assume that includes uti. Its not burning and i dont have pains on my left side of back- where she showed me kidneys were and this is where it would hurt if i had a kidney infection. I just dont feel i cant empty my bladder properly. Babe is lying just above bladder and mw said ' fighting for space' is this why i want to wee a lot? Sorry am tad anxious. Many TIA

I have exp this but I don't think they check for uti during the general wee dip tests, they have to send it to the lab. That said, even when I have this problem I have never had any bugs show up in my urine. I would see if you can hand a sample in to the Dr to get it tested, but I too have had manys a problem trying to empty my bladder. As soon as I finish and stand up, sometimes maybe 10 mins later I have to go again and let some more out. I'd say try not to strain to empty, get up and then get back on the loo again - it's called double voiding. Is it happening every day or for a few days then going away, or is it constant?

thanks for replying. Its not every day just every few i guess. I totally forgot to add that im on antibiotics anyhow- 2 days left. I drink lots of water so when i do go it is just water really. Seems worse at night have stopped drinking tea before bed as this makes it worse. If it continues will call doc. Its just very annoying.

A UTI would be picked up at your midwife appointments.....the dip looks for leukocytes which indicate infection. If your wee was ok when it was dipped yesterday then I guess you don't have a UTI. I think weeing a lot is a pretty standard pregnancy symptom and unfortunately will only get worse.....I'm 35 weeks now and need a wee constantly! (sorry!)

thanks heth would rather a pg symptom rather than a uti. Luckily you dont have too much further to go. Seems ok at the moment hurrah

Weeing alot is also a sypmtom of diabetes (or gestational diabetes) It would usually be picked up with glucose in your urine though not always, I was diagnosed really late in my first pregnancy and had it for all my subsequent pregnancies. Like the above poster said though weeing alot is a symptom of pregnancy but it might be worth speaking to your midwife about a gtt if it doesn't calm down or you find yourself with other symptoms like raging thrist.
