I know this is a strange title, and I would love to know other peoples strange morning sickness symptoms that are not related to food!

I fould I hated the feel of anything around my belly, so lived in my mother's nities for the worse of it!

I hated taking a bath or shower because the feel of water on my skin was uncomfortable.

I stopped wearing makeup, not only because I didn't feel like it, but more because I didn't like the smell, the feeling of it on my face, and the taste of anything on my lips, and I have been wearing make-up nearly every day for 15 years!! That also includes lipsil or chapstick so my lips got so dry and cracked, the corners of my mouth split and I looked and felt awful!

I also got travel sick, which I know is a common one!

Anyone else??

I’ve pretty much gone veggie this time round.

The horrific nausea has mostly subsided but the smell of meat is horrific to me. I still cook it (while gagging) for DH/DS but I need DH to confirm it doesn’t smell off as I can’t trust my own senses. Sausages and mince are particularly bad.

Weirdly the smell of stuff like chorizo hasn’t changed so that’s fine. I’m guessing because the spices/curing process means I’m smelling less ‘meat’ and more salt and spice mix.

There's a bowl that my mum kept for when me and my siblings were vomiting as youngsters. I saw it in the garage the other day and it made me retch!

For me, the smell of food is worse than actually eating it. There's a Chinese takeaway down the road and the smell is HORRENDOUS. I didn't mind it at all before pregnancy.

I too have had the 'stinky fridge' problem. My husband, bless him, has scrubbed it from top to toe several times!

The dry dog food my dog eats smells so bad that I returned some unopened bags we had, thinking there was something wrong with it. New bags smell just as bad and dog still loves it!

I was driving cross country last week and actually found strong farm smells quite comforting. I reasoned that it's because I know it isn't something to eat (yes, I know I'm not about to chow on dog food either, but pregnancy is a strange time!!)

On the other hand, petrol/diesel fumes are awful. The feel of spikey leg hair growing back sets my stomach turning. This heat is nauseating. The sight of people spitting makes me gag. And I can't watch some tv programmes that I watched in the midst of my first trimester because I remember feeling so awful at that time that it brings it all back to me.

I couldn't stand using shampoo and conditioner, just used a minimal amount.
Also the smell of coffee almost sent me over the edge a couple of times (33 weeks now and loving it though!)

Also just couldn't stand thinking or reading about pregnancy.

I hated washing up liquid, hand wash, toothpaste, body lotion etc etc. Still can't stand the hand-wash at 22 weeks. Most upsetting of all was that I disliked the smell of my 3 year old and found it really hard to cuddle and kiss her. So glad that's gone now!

Jeds55 · 21/07/2021 19:03

Like a pp says some TV programmes still make me feel sick as I watched them when feeling awful.
It's a bloody shit time. Hope it ends soon for those still in the midst of it

Oh god the fridge! Also the bin. Also the washing up. Cooking smells. My DD’s dirty nappies. Talking about any of the above or any banned food items. If anyone has the audacity to smoke in my vicinity I will retch in their face and had a particularly unpleasant experience walking past the fish shop on a warm day. I’m 30 weeks and can at least eat a fairly balanced diet now (after a good couple of months surviving on cheese sandwiches and tangfastics) but doesn’t take much to set me off!

I couldn’t look at my phone , just made me feel so sick. And Mickey Mouse Fun house makes me sick by association now! Think I must have over used it as a babysitting tool on bad days!!

Pebbles218 · 22/07/2021 15:49

Oh gosh.

The wicker placemats prevented my going in the dining room. I took a strong aversion to the almost non-existant smell of them.

Also Aldi. Couldn't even look at the building at one point.

ForkedIt · 22/07/2021 15:54

I knew it was more than normal morning sickness when I was contemplating if I could wear my pyjama bottoms into my (corporate) job as the feel of anything more structured would make me vomit Blush
Then when I was weighing up whether it was worth going into hospital to be rehydrated as it would entail a 30 minute car ride.
I also thought that a side effect of pregnancy was that your body stopped sweating - no that’ll be the dehydration.
Honestly, looking back, the sickness made me seriously cognitively impaired! One time when I did decide to go to hospital for rehydration I got convinced my husband was driving the wrong way down the dual carriageway and started shouting at him Confused

Seeline · 22/07/2021 15:59

I threw up every time the doorbell went or the phone rang.
As for cleaning my teeth.... My DS is nearly 20 years old and I still gag when brushing!

BertieBotts · 22/07/2021 16:01

I became massively put off by certain pairs of DS2's pyjamas Confused the really skintight kind that come from America. I'd ordered these overly expensive ones from carter's for Christmas. Now he's nearly grown out of them and I'm only just able to stand them again.

BakewellGin1 · 22/07/2021 16:06

I stopped wearing Armani perfumes as they made me heave..
Coffee I went off completely from the moment I must of conceived ha ha I didn't want one at all and I am addicted normally. The further into pregnancy I was the worse I reacted to the smell.
Any form of tea made me sick as soon as it hit my stomach... Normal, Green or Fruit
The smell of diesal or petrol was horrific. DH used to fill up the car as I couldn't bear the petrol station

dorothygaleandtoto · 22/07/2021 16:08

I've found a lovely shady spot in the garden to work. Inside reminds me of sickness and there are all sorts of smells that other people can't smell in there Confused But...for the last three days, like clockwork, bloke from next door noisily does his ablutions in the bathroom, window open for all to hear. Worst part is HE is gagging upon brushing his teeth! Nice shady spot ruined by loudly retching neighbour! I now take myself off for a glass of water and hum loudly when I hear him go in!

MrsGxx · 22/07/2021 17:58

Urgh- 17 weeks and I cannot stand anything literally!
My husband can’t come near me and he has to sleep on one side of the bed and not touch me (I feel so bad)😢
This heat is awful I constantly feel nauseated 🤢
I can’t watch tv it really makes me feel sick
I’m badly travel sick now I can’t even drive 😬
I’m dizzy so I’m sick if I stand up
Showers make me sick 😷
Washing my hair makes me sick
Standing up makes me sick because I’m so out of breath.
Oh pregnancy 🤢🤢🤢
