Sore throat that's getting worse - any advice?

Hi,

In the last couple of days I've started to get a sore throat. Whilst it could be the result of my terrible snoring or a side effect of the constant heartburn I have, it's beginning to get worse.

Have people just taken Tunes or Strepsils? I don't think lemsip is advised (and I don't have a headache so no need for paracetamol element) but I'm 35 weeks with twins who could arrive any day so I'd rather it cleared up sooner rather than later.

Husband has come down with a migraine/cold today so I'm keen to get better before I pick up his germs too.

Any advice is really appreciated.

You can take paracetamol for the pain.

No idea about Strpsils - I hate them! But Tunes or whateve would be fine.

Hope it goes soon.

A home-made lemon drink sweetened with a little honey or sugar?
Not sure if it would irritate your heartburn though? And I'm not sure whether lemon would go with gaviscon?!
Hope you are feeling better soon!

Ricola herbal lozenges are really soothing .you get them in holland and barret and sometimes tesco.but the sugar free ones contain apartame.the boots pharmacist told me not to take tunes or strepsils when i had DD 3.5 .now I'm 17 weeks and sucking the ricolas again.

Hello, I get really bad sore throats and on 2 separate occasions this pregancy (currently 35 weeks) I have had such a sore throat that I have had to resort to Strepsils. My pharmasist told me not to take them due to the alcohol content but that was the only reason he gave me.

I decided that was not reason enough to not take them.

Please check with your pharmasist in case I have missed something but I was sucking on them and was in so much pain I was glad of them and if I get another sore throat before the end I will take them again.

Thank you for your suggestions and warm wishes. I'll venture out to the chemist tomorrow and pick up a selection of remedies.

In the meantime I'm just tucking into some ice cream - a soothing if short term relief!

i was told by pharmacist can't take strepsils but can take soothers which actually don't do very much...

then i saw on a thread somewhere that the problem with strepsils was the artifical sweetners thats not recommended... now thinking about the low sugar ribena i was drinking instead
