She found out she was pregnant about 2 weeks ago and is guessing she is about 5-6 weekspg. Since saturday she ahs not kept anything down andis being sick day and night, she has just rang saying she feels so faint she cant stand.

I advised her to go to gp asap, is this normal for morning sickness to be this bad so early? i only had mild nausea in both pregnancies and sickness at about 10 weeks so dont know if this is normal! any advice appreciated!

Hi ya

I had bad sickness early on and it got better after about 15 weeks pg. Best way is to avoid dairy. I realised that having my usual cereal's for breakfast were making it worse. Switched to toast (not too much butter) and although I still felt sick - nowhere near as bad.

I hope she starts to feel better very soon.

Hi, I am 7 weeks pregnant and have had really bad sickness since 4 weeks! I find a little bit of lemonade really settles my stomach enough to eat something small. I think small and often is the key, if your sis is not keeping anything down at all the doctor should be able to give her something to help?

it is not normal to be this sick, it might be hyperemesis, and drugs can be given to help, and sometimes hospital admission for meds and rehydration too, she should see her doc ASAP

yh i suspect hyperemesis too if its as bad as mine has been.. if its really bad tell her to go see her doc as there are anti sickness tablets she can try b4 hospital admission is neccesary but as long as she is taking sips of water, plenty of rest and lil bits of food whenever she can it should be ok. i found eatin then havin a nap kept something down.
if she is feeling light headed (i also get this..) it is prob due to an iron efficiency due to her bein sick alot so get some vitamin tablets to help or iron tablets.
i was put on some anti sickness tabs but they didnt work with this pregnancy but did with my other 2.. i have been sick between 8-10x a day for the past 2 1/2 mths but hospital found out i had got a stomach infection but not sure how long i've had it.. and was only at a routine datin scan at 13wks i was told this.. getting slowly better and i'm 15weeks on thurs..

as my midwife said.. it is normal to have sickness as is a sign of a healthy pregnancy even tho it dont seem it. this is my 3rd DC i am preg with and have had the same extensity of sickness everytime. we are just very unlucky
tell her i hope she feels better soon

it will fade she's just gotta be strong
