Very faint positive line - ?

My period was due on Sunday. Have been "sure" I am pregnant for a week so thought I'd do a pg test to prove myself right . Two lines did come up but the positive one is sooo faint it's almost shadowy. Definitely there though. Has this happened to anyone else? What does it mean? Did I do the test too early?

Feel a bit silly as could just wait another week or so but I really want to know if I'm pregnant or not

Faint or not, a positive is a positive. THere are only a very few circumstances that could give you a 'false' positive (such as hcg trigger shots in fertility treatments, hcg levels not returned to zero after a mc) so what I mean to say is... congratulations!

Of course, retest in a few days if it will reassure you

Congratulations! A line is a line.

annamama · 25/01/2010 15:10

Yes a line is a line! (remembering when I googled "pregnancy test faint line" back in the day)

kitcat1977 · 25/01/2010 15:49

Me too - now 34+!!

Scotlian · 25/01/2010 16:05

Oooooooh thank you all!

Now I can move on to being slightly freaked out / extremely delighted / weepy and hormonal

I had 2 very faint lines when I tested this time. I tested again the next day and the line was a lot stronger.

Get a Clearblue digital - No line

KayloHalo · 25/01/2010 16:35

I used a first response (well 2 but who's counting ) and even I could barely see the positive line that was definitely there - on both of them!

Am now 14 weeks up the duff

kitcat1977 · 25/01/2010 16:49

Congrats :O

GuernseyFrench · 25/01/2010 17:40

I did a first response and had a very faint line, the following day I bought a Clearblue digital... I'm now 36+6

xkatyx · 25/01/2010 17:46

Yes get the digital one that sais pregnant on it :-) you an never get tired of seeing that.

TheOldestCat · 25/01/2010 17:49

My faint positive line from 2006 is on her way back from nursery and the one from last year is now three weeks from its due date.

Congrats to you!

designerjooles · 25/01/2010 18:06

I too got a faint line on a cheaper test and then tried the next morning with the first urine of the day (sorry to be so graphic!) and did a clear blue digital test. They are expensive - but sooooo worth it! Congrats!

Lol OldestCat!

Ladies I have just done another test with first pee of day and there is a very definite pink line! Strangest moment was when ds (now 10 months) tried to grab the test from me to eat it and I had a flash of when he was just a wee line on a plastic stick.

Here's hoping all goes well. Thank you for the congrats everyone I feel all fuzzy and fertile

Congratulations and good luck. A lovely age gap for your dcs btw.

Scotlian · 26/01/2010 08:39

Really LightLyric? That sounds as if you have good experience of similar age gap...can you tell me more?

My DS1 and DS2 are 16 months apart. DS1 was 7months when we conceived DS2 (who was our honeymoon baby). DS1 is DS2's hero.

They are one school year apart - Reception and Year 1 - and now refer to themselves in the collective "we", even though they do fight like cat and dog sometimes. It's a lot cheaper on the clothes and baby "stuff" budget too! And they are into the same things at the same time so similar after school stuff makes running around after them easier too.

Oh, bless them.

fortyplus · 26/01/2010 09:08

Congratulations! I have an 18 month gap between my faint positives (now 14 and 16!) and it's very hard work t first but soooo great later! Mine are in consecutive academic years and get on really well with eachothers' friends etc. It's brilliant.

Hurray hurray am really excited now! Bring on October!
