Has anyones due date changed after a scan?

I had an early scan and they put me at 6+1. I have my '12' week scan next week when I will be 12+6. Just wondering if anyone had had an early scan and been given a date then had it changed at a later scan, or does it just change for people who guess their EDD from LMP?? Will the first scan have been really acurate? It's just that since about 10 weeks my symptomes have slowly gone, I'm worried something may have happened to the baby, or maybe I'm further along and that is why they have gone?!

Thanks

Hi Plant

This happened to me - I had an early scan which showed me to be 6+5 (I had thought I was just 6wks)

Had my 12wk scan on Friday where they told me I was over 13 weeks!! They have to post out my new due date apparently cos the printing computer thingy wasn't working - although we got scan pics

HTH xx

I've had mine changed between scans - I think the accuracy differs as you progress so I think its relatively common. Good luck! Hope all goes well for you...

Oh and my symptoms had slowly disappeared too but this appeared to be because I was further along than I thought

Positive thoughts....

Hi

I had a scan at 7 weeks which matched with my period dates. Last week I had a bit of bleeding and felt that my symptoms had gone and went in for a scan and the baby was fine and measuring 12 and a half weeks - a week further on than we thought I was according to the dates and the early scan. So yes your dates may have changed.

I think symptoms can slow done a bit after 10 or so weeks. Good luck with the scan!

I had my due date changed by 1 week following the 12 week scan. The midwife put the date of my LMP back one week from what I thought it was. I had come up with that date from memory (about 3 weeks into the preg) and so thought it was possible I made a mistake and Midwife said the scan was more reliable.
Towards the end of my pregnancy when planning my c-section with consultant for 39 weeks I went over my dates etc again. I had got a BFN on an early preg test and then a BFP a few days later. That made sense with my date for LMP but not really with scan date of LMP one week earlier.

The consultant took all details including factthat my periods are regular ad preg tests where part of same newly bought twin pack and chnaged due date back. She said that while scans are statistically more accurate ( eg in women with irregular cycles or who didnt test fairly early etc) But in my case given all the other info I had it was more likely that my estmated LMP was more accurate than the scan.

Only bugger is that I now have a week longer to wait for my baby than I thought. If only I had kept my mouth shut...

I had a scan at what should have been 8ish weeks by dates during my first pregnancy - sonographer thought only about 5 weeks. So put back 3 weeks, but then forward again by 1 week at 12/40 scan - fortunately still in time for nuchal and bloods. ds1 was born at 40+1 by revised scan dates or 42+2 by uncorrected LMP date. Regular cycle and sure of dates so all a bit of a mystery.

Really hoping my current pregnancy follows scan dates like last time - should have baby by weekend if so. Yipee!

Thanks for your replies!

I did see yours on the August thread Kaylo but couldn't remember if you had had an early scan or not! I will have to post over there again soon, but there has been so much sad news I can't face it right now.

I hope they change mine. Mine was a little odd to start with as when i tested +tive I hadn't had a period for about 50+ days, so thought I was about 8 weeks, went for an early scan and they couldn't see anything, asked me to come back. I had a look in my diary and exactly 4 weeks after I had noted ov pains and such I had noted it again, without AF inbetween. SO I had ov'ed twice in one month 4 weeks apart (freaky cycle) and I must have fallen pg on the second ov.

Anyway, I am just rambling now. Hopefully they will put me at my second set of dates and I'll be a bit further along! Wishful thinking!!

I thought that if you had an early scan they were really reliable and that is the date they stick with. Glad to hear other stories.

Going by her LMP my friend is currently 42 weeks (and has 43cm fundal height) however her dating scan disagreed with her LMP dates so officially she's only 39weeks. She's not a happy bunny atm.

Plant you're right there has been so much sad news lately, potentially could be some more as we are still awaiting a scan update from Bigmuther. I hope she's too busy celebrating good news to come tell us, it's just the longer she leaves it the more worried we get.

BabyGiraffes · 25/01/2010 14:25

I've been found to be a week ahead of myself in both pregnancies and had my due date brought forward by a week each time. No idea if the scan is more accurate or they can't count (had treatment for first one so definitely sure of LMP etc!!)...
As for symptoms easing, I was fine by 10 weeks first time round and 16 weeks second time.
Good luck all
