High blood pressure anyone?

This is my 2nd pregnancy (38+4) but the first time I have been told I have a high blood pressure. I had a routine check yesterday tea time at the midwife led unit and was told my bp was high for me at 150/90. They told me I need to have it checked again within 36 hours so I have another appointment first thing tomorrow. Urine sample was clear (although i downed 2 pints of water before i went in to make sure i could provide a sample, not sure if that affects the test or not). They put me on the monitor for half an hour asi also have had reduced movement but it didnt print out - out of ink so they're sending the computer file to the main hospital to check).

What can I expect tomorrow if my bp is still raised? I wasn't too worried but then started googling!

Hi, some of us have got a thread going about this which you might find helpful: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/898625-High-BP-consultants-and-effects-on-labour

What happened with me when I was first sent to the hospital by my midwife was that I saw a registrar who took bloods and put me on a low dose of Beta Blockers for a week and I had to do a 24 hour urine for the 24 hours before my next appointment and bring it with me so they could check it to see how my kidneys were functionng.

Then I went back a week later (with my 4 litres of wee!) and had a growth scan which also checked the amount of amniotic fluid and state of my placenta. That was all fine but the BP was still high-ish so they upped the dose of Beta Blockers.

Now I'm being seeing every 6 days and I have to go in sooner if the diastolic goes consistently over 90.

Mine kept climbing and I had to go in to be induced at 40+4 - I totally wasn't worried about pre-eclampsia but they kept saying it would happen (urine clear, no headaches, no swollen ankles) and then that the only way I would avoid it was to get baby out....very sad, did that, went home, got pre-eclampsia the day after she was born - they wanted me to go back in, but I refused, instead got beta blockers and how I wished I'd done that during the last part of pregnancy instead.

I found deep relaxation really helped bring bp down when in hosp (although was slightly put off by witch midwife who kept blabbing "ooh, looks like she's got Paul McKenna in there with her").

Good luck, I'd talk to a MW you trust and go to see your GP if worried (and you hvae a good r'ship)
