Pain in groin at 26 weeks

I'm 26 weeks pg (3rd time around) and have a recurring stabbing pain in my groin, on the left hand side. It's really quite painful, and is coming every 10 minutes or so.

Doesn't feel like a contraction or anything like that...should I be woried? Has anyone had this?

Oops...worried, not woried!

I know I'm shamelessly bumping now, but I could really do with some advice please!

im 21 weeks and have had pains on either side on and off which felt like stabs and was told its the ligaments stretching. i grt pain low in my stomach and groin and its quite sharp at times. have you tried using a hot water bottle on it or warm bath? i find it helps ease it like a muscle spasm. it could also be spd pelvic pain, that can feel like knitting needles being pushed up you!

if you are really worried call your midwife, that's what she's there for, she wont mind you calling.

i hope it gets better soon for you. xx

abbierhodes could be spd. Have you done lots of walking today? When I was pg with ds I started getting signs of spd around 24-26 weeks.

digitalgirl · 24/01/2010 18:48

Best thing is to take it easy, don't do too much walking, hoovering, pushing shopping trolleys. And keep your legs together as much as possible, for instance when getting into and out of a car. Mention it to your midwife at your next appt and if it gets worse and is spd then insist on seeing a physio who will give you exercises and lots of tips for coping upto and during childbirth.

I had these pains all the time was told there ligament pains :-)

abbierhodes · 24/01/2010 18:49

Thanks for replies. It doesn't feel like anything serious, iyswim, ligaments probably about right.

I haven't done much walking today tbh, but over the last two days I've been driving for the first time in about a month...I wonder if I've pulled something.

More painful than I'd expect ligament pain to be...I'm sure I never had it before!

X posts with a few people! I really hope it's not the start of SPD- this is turning out to be a very complicated pregnancy after 2 relatively easy ones!!!

yep - I'm 31 weeks and having been having same from about 26 weeks too. Also got vulval variscocities too (vaginal piles - nice!!). Reckon it's all this SPD thing. It's alo my third and had no bother whatsoever with the first two

I'm 34 wks and am having this too....always the left side, sharp stabbing pain, often makes me wince and sometimes my left leg loses it's capacity to wear my weight so end up hopping onto my right leg.....and grabbing my crotch! The feeling comes and goes, but never happens if i am sitting down.
Never had this with ds, so mentioned it to midwife, fearing spd......she suggested it was because the baby was sitting on a nerve....and will go as soon as baby is born.....still got 3 wks of work left so hoping this doesn't happen too often in the office!

I'm only 19 weeks but getting this terrible groin pain too, mostly when I stand up and first few minutes of walking. Have had it for about a week now but went swimming yesterday and it's much worse. I didn't have this in my last pregnancy but was wondering if it might be related to having had a cesarean last time?
