I am not alone.... I do make a rod for my own back sometimes as eat (binge on) the wrong food (curry! spicy! rich and creamy! espresso! ) when all I can stomach is cheese and ham sandwich, then I feel even worse!!!

BANANAS it is then.....

Just returned to the sofa after throwing up my breakfast - joy. I seem to have a sort of low level nausea all of the time, oddly feeling sick isn't putting me off food though, I feel rubbish but I still keep thinking of things I fancy to eat ..

My sympathies go out to you all, I've been the same for about 5/6 weeks. I find it gets worse every time I have a water infection and have been on cyclizine or stemetil pretty much constantly since then.

I'm now at the point where I dread going out, staying in or doing anything for fear of vomiting

LizzieHart · 26/01/2010 19:37

Monstermuncher - my doctor told me that you are less likely to throw up the things you crave, so hope that advice works for you.

sky27 - I have a spare paper bag obtained from a pick and mix stored in my hand bag for emergencies!

You're not alone OP.

I travel with sickbags and I sometimes wake up during the night to be sick. I too have cried

I've been prescribed medicine for sea sickness as my doctor wasn't happy giving me straight anti-emetics. I don't take them every day - if I can get to 2pm without vomiting I try and do the rest of the day.

I'm 15 weeks... my mum was 7 months both times before it went.

midori1999 · 27/01/2010 10:54

mrswill did the cyclizine work? My GP prescribed it last week but I am quite worried about taking it, tbh. not just because of potential effects on the baby, but also as I have read it makes some women worse, and I don't think I could stand that.

op, I really do feel for you, it is awful isn't it, and maybe worse as no-one really seems to understand how bad it is? If it makes you feel any better, you definitely do forget. This is my fourth pregnancy and I was really ill with all my previous three until about 22 weeks. However, I somehow managed to carry on and had three horses to look after during my third pregnancy.

This time is much worse, and I am only 10 1/2 weeks, so I am hoping it might finish at 12 weeks ish. I am not sure I could cope with work, I am trying to sleep as much as possible during the day as I feel even more sick if I am doing too much. I have had to force myself tot he supermarket today, but felt like I was going to pass out the whole way round an dhad to stop twice ont he 15 minute drive to throw up. I am being sick 2-12 times a day.

I have found Lucozade keeps me going if I cannot bear to put anything in my mouth (often) but it doesn't stop me being sick, nothing does.

LizzieHart · 27/01/2010 19:59

midori1999 I am on cyclizine and it has helped for me, but I am also on metoclopramide and omeprazole! Don't worry, your doctor is NOT going to prescribe anything that will harm your baby.
I also have a horse, but luckily a sharer, who has been brilliant, along with the others I share my field with. Jake (said horse) has had a smelly snotty nose too which was great timing! Nothing like the smell of horse snott to make you puke! tmi!

I am so sorry you have it so rough!

Hello, ladies, and sympathy to all who have the dreaded m/s. Ugh!

There don't seem to be any current entries here, and I just wanted to say, that a group of Mum's who have suffered suspected or diagnosed Hyperemesis in the past or have the misfortune to have it now, have set up a support thread which I hope might be of use to anyone currently suffering.

Anyone who has enough nausea and vomiting to have been or be currently struggling is welcome. You don't have to have been diagnosed with Hyperemesis.

It's in talk under 'Hyperemesis Awareness'though 'Support' might be a better term.

Best Wishes

Oh yes. I am almost 12 weeks and feel severely nauseous 24hrs a day. I've never actually been sick but would almost welcome it because nothing gives relief! I've given up on armbands, sucky candies, ginger biscuits (beurgh), oatcakes, crackers, and mint. I can no longer drink hot drinks or soup as this makes it worse. I live on sparkling water and eat frequently because of serous food cravings even though eating doesn't really help.

Today has been mildly better for the first time in 8 weeks and I can't believe how much more positive and happy I feel about everything in my life. Yesterday I was honestly considering leaving my partner and moving back to Canada. Today, I realise that I actually kind of like him... alot.

Good luck everyone. Keep chins up!
