depends how far gone you are.

i had an internal scan done at 6/7 weeks and you could sese a yolk sac and a tiny blob

onlygirl · 23/01/2010 19:18

is it painful?

no, not at all.

the "wand" they use is probably about as thick as a finger or thumb, they'll put some lube on it first!
then gently insert it, maybe move it around a little to get a good view of baby etc

it shouldn't hurt at all

thank you, just did not know what to expect.

Hi, just incase your dr didn't mention it, your bladder should be pretty full for an internal scan so drink plenty of water beforehand. Hope all goes well!

TotalChaos · 23/01/2010 20:06

whenever I went for internal scans I was told I should have an empty bladder, bit puzzled by your post ande, unless you are confusing internal scans with abdominal scans.

i didn't have to have a full bladder for internal scan either

or a regular scan
