I've got an ever expanding and quite itchy bump. Looking for ideas on a nice cream to rub on it to relieve the itch?

mama mio, tummy rub...tis is very nice and it stops the itching too!

Cies · 23/01/2010 17:18

I just used sweet almond oil after a shower with still damp skin. Zero stretchmarks

ilovemydogandmrobama · 23/01/2010 17:22

got this for Christmas when pregnant and loved it. No stretchmarks

BigusBumus · 23/01/2010 17:23

Body Shop Shea Body Butter. Its like lard, but smells lovely. No Stretchmarks, AT ALL!

Nelvana · 23/01/2010 17:28

Burt's bees mama bee belly butter -- no stretchmarks either, for what its worth

Karrierbag · 23/01/2010 18:08

Palmers cocoa butter.. Fab No stretchmarks (yet.. 32+6) and smells lovely too

TakeLovingChances · 23/01/2010 20:24

I use Dove moisturiser - I love how it smells!

I'm almost 35 weeks, and so far only have three tiny 'dents' - one on either side of bump, and one above bellybutton. Not stretchmarks yet, just wee dents.

Don't know if it's because of the lovely Dove cream, or because of good genes

BooHooo · 23/01/2010 20:30

Palmers coco butter

I don't have one stretchmark on the whole of my body and I had a huge bump and put on 3 stone in PG . I always get comments on my skin and I 100% put it down to palmers it is magic stuff.

catbus · 23/01/2010 21:33

Palmers or bio oil; both work a treat; although if you are going to get stretchmarks, nothing in the world will stop them!!

Mouseplus1 · 23/01/2010 22:57

Bio oil religiously ever morning and night but only because it feels and smells lovely. We all know that if we're gonna get them we're gonna get them.

They say that you should look at your mum and see if she got any and this is an indication of how you'll turn out.

Whatever lotion or potion you decide I'll keep my fingers crossed for you x

catbus · 23/01/2010 23:39

Just realised OP was asking mainly for itching, not stretchmarks; oops, sorry! Still, as before, Palmers and Bio Oil are good; god the itchy tight drum bump..oh the memories! Good luck..

Mouseplus1 · 24/01/2010 00:00

Bloody hell catbus is right...looks like my baby brain has kicked in! My bump is always at its itchiest in the morning and at the end of the day so I reckon its because the magic lotion has worn off

Snufflebufty · 24/01/2010 00:03

I used Boots Cocoa Mallow, it only cost £1.89 a bottle and smelled lovely! No stretchmarks and only noticed the itching when i didnt use it. Here's hoping I get to use it again soon......

Mouseplus1 · 24/01/2010 00:16

Thats a lot cheaper than bio oil which is £9 for a tiny bottle! lets face it as long as it smells nice its doesnt matter what it is. they swear by olive oil in the med so I guess ladies just use whatevers to hand sometimes.....

LittlePushka · 24/01/2010 00:27

Usually all the food I spilled on it whilst feeding my face!

Mouseplus1 · 24/01/2010 00:33

Lol.x slightly off track but I cant wait til my bump is big enough to balance maltesers on.

midnightsun · 24/01/2010 11:22

Bio Oil although I think it doesn't matter what you use as long it's mild and you slather it on at least once a day if not day and night. Don't forget the love handles / hips too, I neglected them in my first pregnancy and that is where all my stretch marks ended up.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 24/01/2010 12:31

Another vote for Palmers...

I've got some Sanctuary collagen booster mum-to-be stuff which smells quite nice and keeps the belly skin feeling soft and elastic too....

(no stretch marks yet, but I may be tempting fate!)

HinnyPet · 24/01/2010 16:20

Bio Oil (much cheaper at Costco BTW) is good for stopping itching. However I had no stretchmarks at all til 35 weeks and then they arrived in a truck!

gingerkirsty · 24/01/2010 16:29

Calendula cream is meant to be good for itching, I have used it and do find it is soothing but don't really know whether much better than palmers or whatever!

Bucharest · 24/01/2010 16:30

A massage bar from Lush, Therapy.

rumpleteaser · 24/01/2010 16:32

Bio Oil, Palmers cocoa butter and Johnsons baby oil. I'm always slimey and oily now, 28 weeks, have MASSES of stretch marks but I smell gorgeous!!!!

Wonderstuff · 24/01/2010 16:36

Thank you all. I have some Palmers now - love the smell of cocoa butter. Didn't get too many strech marks last time dispite enormous bump so hopefully will be lucky again. Is the itching that I can't bare. Do miss my belly button though, shame there isn't a cream for that!

Dear all...
without wanting to rain on the non-stretchmark parade... pls can I tell you that in my first pg, i had NO stretchmarks until 37 weeks..... at which point my skin suddenly said "nope, sorry mate, I've had it" and promptly erupted....
the good news from this is that they do fade, and at 32 wks into my 2nd pg, they are providing a lovely silvery decoration to said bump
But KEEP moisturising (with whatever you decide on) and Big Up the good stretchy genes!!!
love rumpleteasers comments. you go girl

maria73 · 24/01/2010 16:55

I used palmers cocoa butter, the unscented one as normal one made feel a bit nauseous! Although slim all girls in my family are really prone to stretchmarks but amazingly didn't get a single one in my tummy using this. Genius and cheap!
