Hi,

I am going to America on holiday and i have a wee fear of flying... The doctor normally gives me a 5mg diazipan for each flight but obviously i can't have these any more. Does anyone have any reccomendations ?

Some people have said Calms but other have said they are a no go as they are herbal....

Any tips would be great...

Keep off the herbal - they are untested in pg and potentially harmful.

Beta blockers are allowed in pg. Ask your Gp. Not as good as valium, but they do help. Is valium definitely contraindicated?

Would hypnotherapy possibly help? If you can self hypnotise through labour, it might be an idea to try it for take off and landing. Just a thought.

Aye - Betablockers, are safe... see GP

Have you thought of antihistamines? They act like seasickness tablets. They also knock you out if you get the right one for you. I know some people routinely give them to babies when they fly. I have serious menopausal anxiety and insomnia and Piriton knocks me out. It's been making me sleep when sleep has been impossible for over two years. Different brands affect different people in different ways. I find that cetirizine hydrchloride (in Piriton) has been a Godsend for me. I use children's Piriton liquid as it's easier to take at night without a drink. You can get it in tablets.
