Now I have heard it is possible. I am curious.

Any of you had periods in pregnancy? What were they like? Normal? Heavy? Light? Regular and consistent? Sporadic?

Totally curious. Thought I was pg a while back then got period and then again and then realised I was in fact not pg but now I am filled with curiosity. Is it true?

My friend had periods throughout her pregnancy- she actually didn't know she was pregnant until she gave birth . Long story. Until then, I thought it was the fantasy stuff of Take a Break, and women who claimed it had happened were downright liars. We thought she had just put a bit of weight on- no bump, nothing. Bizarre.

So, yes, it does happen, but I was too stunned to ask her about how heavy her flow was . However, she thought it was her normal period every month, so it must have been a normal flow...

no..... it cant be true..... wow

I actually know someone that didnt know either until the end and am embarrassed to say I thought she was lying

Now does that mean I have created a whole new herd of paranoid women thinking they are pg when they are not? oops...

A friend of mine also had fairly regular, if light periods, during her pregnancy. She found out at 5 months during a regular visit to her GYN. It's rare, but not totally beyond the realms of possibility.

yep does exist I had two normal ones at the start of my pregnancy hence the miscalculation and a 7 week fast forward

Adsss · 20/01/2010 22:46

oops forgot to set my name that was me on the last post

meltedchoc, I know! I thought everyone who claimed this was lying too. Had it happened to any of my other friends, I probably still would

But it's true. FFS, she went paintballing the week before she gave birth (in the bathroom). It's mental.

tethersend · 20/01/2010 22:54

Ahem.... that is, she gave birth in the bathroom, not went paintballing in the bathroom. I think paintballing was in Essex.

OMGoodness. I can think of nothing more scary than having a baby in your bathroom when you weren't expecting it!

I also know someone this happened to. She was 36 weeks when she found out!

I always thought it was weird before. I'm 24 weeks and lying here with an incredibly active baby squirming around inside... how can they not feel that??

I know it's real and it happens I just can't imagine it iykwim.

I missed the first period but then had the next three. Thought it was just bleeding and worried until th third time it occured when my period was due. Was nowhere near a normal amount and I knew I was pregnant. At 22 weeks I'm VERY sure feeling him every day!

meltedchocolate · 21/01/2010 21:21

Strawberry - as in too heavy or too light?
